East Central University’s Oscar L. Parker Center for the Advancement of Ethical Standards in Business and Society was the recipient of the Community Impact Award in the Education Category, it was recently announced at the 2018 Oklahoma Ethics Awards Consortium at the Petroleum Club in Oklahoma City.
Founded in 1988, the Oscar L. Parker Center facilitates outreach to members of East Central University and the community with the sole purpose of promoting ethics education and ethical behavior on campus and in the community.

ADA – Shannon Warren, founder and chief executive officer of the Oklahoma Business Ethics Consortium (OK Ethics) will deliver East Central University’s 28th Annual Oscar L. Parker Ethics Lecture on Tuesday, April 10, at 1 p.m. in Foundation Hall of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.
The lecture is free and open to the public.

“The Greatest Showtime,” a Broadway musical review, will be performed by East Central University Showtime on Friday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy I. Summers Theatre.
The ECU Showtime cast will perform duets, trios, quartets, ensembles and group songs from Annie, Book of Mormon, Company, Dog Fight, Dream Girls, Gypsy, Hairspray, Into the Woods, Mamma Mia, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Wicked and The Wizard of Oz.

East Central University President Patricia G. Pierson proclaimed March as “Social Work Month” on campus during a recent ceremony in Danley Hall.
The theme was entitled “Social Workers: Leaders, Advocates, Champions,” as the ECU social work program hosted a self-care training that same day to honor those hard-working social workers in the community by teaching them how to better take care of themselves.

Accomplished poets Jeanetta Calhoun Mish and George Bilgere headline a lengthy list of outstanding writers as East Central University conducts the Annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival, April 5-7, on the ECU campus.
Mish and Bilgere are two of 58 writers who will be making presentations at the three-day event.

The East Central University campus and offices will be closed for Spring Break, March 19-23. The campus will reopen on Monday, March 26 for normal operational hours. ECU’s Linscheid Library will be closed March 17-24 and reopen on Sunday, March 25, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. The Tommy Hewett M.D. Wellness Center will close on Friday, March 16 at 8 p.m. and not reopen again until Monday, March 26, at 6 a.m.

East Central University’s Dr. Mara Sukholutskaya was recently the recipient of the prestigious national level American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages (AATSEEL) Award for Excellence in Post-Secondary Teaching.
Sukholutskaya, director of Russian Studies and ECU’s Global Education program, received the award at the Annual AATSEEL Conference in Washington D.C. She has been a member of that group of over 1,000 members since 2001.
