Program CAATE Accreditation Status: Probation

"East Central University Athletic Training Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).  The program has been placed on Probation as of February 19, 2016 by the CAATE, 6850 Austin Center Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78731-3101."

The program has been placed on probation due to Standard 11: First Time Pass Rate and Standard 48: Variety of Settings for Clinical Education.  Even though the program is on Probation, we are still accepting applications and graduating those individuals currently enrolled in our program.  We have already begun the process to meet the CAATE's requirements to get off probation and have every intention of no longer being on probation after next years annual review.

Standard 11

  • The first time pass rate must be 70%, currently ECU's first time pass rate is 63%
  • This is not uncommon as over 25% of all Athletic Training Programs are on probation for this.  Here is a link if you are interested in seeing where we stand in comparison to all of the other programs, Baccalaureate & Masters: Program Outcomes

Standard 48

  • CAATE desires a variety of populations, care providers, and healthcare settings be used for clinical education.
  • We have those in place but are in the process of adding more in an effort to meet CAATE's requirements

Program CAATE Accreditation Cycle Ends: 2018-2019
