This major is designed for students who are seriously considering futures in sacred music including: church music ministry, sacred music performance, composition, and education. The program of study includes an in-depth study of the history and philosophy of sacred music, hymnology and liturgy, guitar and contemporary worship, sacred music composition, sacred music practicum, and an internship.
The sacred music degree at ECU is the only one of its kind offered by a public university in the State of Oklahoma. The degree features a hands-on approach where students routinely gain valuable experience in the local community as well as frequently find employment in the field while they are working on completing their degree.
See the Elective Studies page for more information.
