Joe and June Sims Centennial Cartography/Geography Endowment
Deadline: Faculty determine awardee each spring

This scholarship recognizes a Cartography upperclassmen major possessing an exemplary grade point average (GPA) weighted as follows: 60% weight for geography and geo-techniques courses and 40% weight over the remaining courses.  All majors meeting the following criteria are automatically considered: Students actively pursuing their degree with at least 24 hours completed in the major; additional consideration is given to graduating seniors.

Prior to 2014, awardees of this scholarship were selected based upon each applicant's overall GPA, with additional consideration for those with an interest in geographic education.


Kelly-Griffin Achievement Award (up to $500)
Deadline: Faculty determine awardee each spring

Recipient is announced at the College of Health and Sciences Awards Ceremony in April.

This award recognizes the Cartography Major who best serves the discipline inside and outside of the classroom.   All Majors with Junior or Senior standing are considered who also are on track toward degree completion.  This award is determined by the Department of Cartography & Geography faculty.  

Prior to 2014, recipients of this award were selected based upon each applicant's financial need, with further consideration based upon academic achievement.


Higginbotham Geography Scholarship ($1000)
Deadline: Faculty determine awardee each spring

Recipient is announced at the College of Health and Sciences Awards Ceremony in April.

This scholarship recognizes a Cartography major with a concentration in Geography. The awardee must possess an exemplary grade point average (GPA) weighted as follows: 60% weight for geography and geo-techniques courses and 40% weight over the remaining courses.  All majors meeting the following criteria are automatically considered: Students actively pursuing their degree with at least 20 hours completed in the major and not scheduled to graduate until the following year or later. Students who show promise for a post-graduate education with be given additional consideration.


Briles CartoGeo Scholarship ($1000)

Recipient is announced at the College of Health and Sciences Awards Ceremony in April.  

This scholarship recognizes a Cartography major possessing at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) and is in need of financial assistance to be attending college.
