What is the minimum GPA required for admission to East Central University School of Graduate Studies?

A minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or 2.75 for the last 60 hours is required for standard admission. For more information on requirements for admission click here.

What is the status of my admission application?

Does the School of Graduate Studies require a GRE?

Admission to the School of Graduate Studies does not require a GRE. However, all departments do require testing within the first 12 hours of the program. Failure to complete testing before the deadline will result in a hold on your account. For specific information please contact your department.

When do I apply for candidacy? Students who have been admitted to a Graduate Degree Program must submit an application for Admission to Candidacy for the master's degree no later than the end of the second week of the semester or term in which 60% of the program coursework will be completed.  For specific hours for degree programs:  Candidacy Page.

Where can I obtain an application for candidacy?

On the Candidacy Page, you will find access to the candidacy instructions, the candidacy form, and the degree checksheet for your program. The candidacy form should be completed, approved, and signed by your advisor, and sent to the School of Graduate Studies.

Can I take Graduate classes as an undergraduate?

A senior student who has completed 100 hours and who is not enrolled in a full course load may be permitted to enroll in courses applicable to the graduate program, provided that his or her total study load is not more than 16 hours in a semester or nine hours in a summer term.  No more than 6 hours in a semester or 3 in a summer term may be applied to a graduate degree.
