East Central University (ECU), a regional four-year university located in Ada, Oklahoma, seeks an Instructor/Assistant Professor in Human Resources, tenure-track if eligible. Starting date will be August 2013 at the latest. ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 40 countries and 35 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty members hold doctorates. The position is located in the Department of Human Resources which includes programs in human services counseling, criminal justice, and social work.
Duties include: East Central University invites applications for a Criminal Justice tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor rank. Primary responsibilities will include teaching a variety of law enforcement courses. The successful candidate will also direct the summer Collegiate Officer Program (COP) which teaches students the skills necessary to become CLEET certified. Responsibilities will also include student advisement, university service, and professional/scholarly contributions.
Qualifications include: A Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is required. A doctorate degree is preferred. ABD will be considered. Candidates must have at least two years of law enforcement experience and must be CLEET-certified instructor, or possess equivalent law enforcement training. Strong candidates will have evidence of successful teaching, scholarly activity, and professional accomplishments commensurate with experience.
