East Central University (ECU) is seeking an individual to fill a full-time Family and Consumer Sciences faculty position that would be responsible for the FCS teacher education program. The position is a ten-month faculty position with an August 2014 start date.
ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences; and ten master’s degrees in education, human resources, and psychology. ECU’s 4,600 students come from 32 countries and 28 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty hold doctorates. ECU is committed to teaching excellence, both on campus and through distant education.
The position requires experience teaching Family and Consumer Sciences at the secondary level with university experience preferred. Responsibilities will include teaching courses, advising program concentrations, working with the ECU teacher education, and sponsoring student organizations. Also serve on university committees and participate in professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum requirement is a master’s degree in Family and Consumer Science or a related area, with a doctorate in Family and Consumer Sciences Education or related area preferred; ABD status will be considered. Supportive course work or experience in nutrition and foods, career development, consumer economics and management, and housing and interior design. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
