MATHEMATICS/STATISTICS: The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at East Central University (ECU) in Ada, Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of pure/applied mathematics or statistics, starting with the Fall 2014 semester.
East Central University is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences; and ten master's degrees in education, human resources, and psychology. ECU's 4,600 students come from 32 countries and 28 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty members hold doctorates.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (a) teaching 12 hours per semester (summer teaching not guaranteed), including some lower-level mathematics courses (b) scholarly activity and (c) service, including student advisement and serving on committees. The Department seeks candidates holding a doctorate in pure/applied mathematics or statistics. ABD candidates may be considered. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with a commitment to undergraduate education at a regional student-centered university, a desire to pursue research in their respective area and/or direct undergraduate research with students, and an ability to submit competitive external funding proposals. Documented evidence of excellent communication skills and effective teaching experience is also strongly desired.
