SPECIAL EDUCATION: the Education Department of East Central University (ECU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, if eligible, faculty position beginning August, 2013.  ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma offering thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences.  Nine master’s degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting.  ECU’s 4,800 students come from 18 countries and 32 different states.  About 65% of the 173 faculty members hold doctorates.


Responsibilities:  The successful candidate will: 1) be responsible for delivering quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate professional education 2) supervise student teachers 3) pursue a focused area of research and scholarship that culminates in publications, professional presentations, and submission of grant proposals 4) hold active membership in relevant professional associations/organizations, and 5) serve on committees and participate in official activities at the department, college and university levels.


Requirements:  Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Special Education (candidates who are ABD and those who are close to ABD status may be considered).  A Master’s degree in Special Education is required.  Other preferred requirements include: demonstrated successful public school teaching experience in Special Education, experience with instructional technology (internet, instructional software, Blackboard), a commitment to preparing teachers for effective practice in public schools, and the ability to teach in traditional and non-traditional formats and settings including off-campus, weekends, on-line, or ITV.
