To fulfill the OSPR mission, this office serves the University community by:
understanding the research interests of faculty, the academic needs of students, departments and other units; the program enhancement needs of staff; the global needs of the institution; and the overall strategic directions of the University
identifying external agencies with financial resources to meet those needs and that can further the creation, expansion and enhancement of quality scholarship at the University
developing and maintaining relationships with those external agencies
assisting the University community in the development and refinement of funding requests
increasing the capacity of the University to develop and submit successful proposals by providing high quality staff resources within the OSPR, by sponsoring educational opportunities for faculty and staff, by developing networks that facilitate information and resource sharing within the University, expanding and promoting funding incentive programs, nurturing faculty and staff relationships with external agencies, and by maintaining a library of funded proposals and other grant writing resources
advancing policy, practice and leadership that supports quality research and grantsmanship within the University, within Oklahoma, and when appropriate, within the nation.
