ACCOUNTING
 

The Accounting Scholarship is awarded to students having completed at least nine hours of accounting courses and carrying a course load of at least 12 hours per semester the semesters preceding and following the award. In addition, recipients must have met one of the following GPA criteria: a 2.7 cumulative GPA, a 3.0 GPA the last 24 hours, a 3.5 GPA the last semester, or a 3.0 GPA in their major. Please use general application.

The Mick Cowan Accounting Scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in accounting. The recipient will be selected by the Accounting Department, with final approval by the Foundation Scholarship Committee.  Please use general application.
 
The William Chapman Scholarship will be awarded to a senior level student majoring in Accounting. The student must maintain a minimum GPA overall of 3.5 and a minimum GPA in accounting of a 3.5. This award was funded by Mr.and Mrs. Oscar Parker in honor of Bill Chapman.  Please use general application.
 
The Mike and Leslie Dicus Accounting Scholarship is awarded to a full-time student who is majoring in accounting. Preference will be given to graduates of Ada area high schools. Please use general application.

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
 
The Business Administration Scholarship is awarded to students classified as Juniors or who have completed at least 55 hours of college credit.   Recipients must carry a course load of at least 12 hours per semester the semester preceding and following the award. In addition, recipients must meet one of the following GPA criteria: a 2.7 cumulative GPA, a 3.0 GPA the last 24 hours, a 3.5 GPA the last semester, or a 3.0 GPA in their major. The second semester award is dependent on the student’s continued eligibility. Please use general application.

Liberal Arts & Social Sciences
 
MUSIC
 
Recipients of this scholarship will be selected by the Foundation Scholarship Committee and must be full-time students in good standing and performing satisfactory work toward a degree. Exceptions to the full-time student rule can be made in extraordinary circumstances. The recipient of this scholarship must be taught/mentored by a piano faculty member and be enrolled in private piano study (applied piano) at the time he/she receives the scholarship or be enrolled in private piano study (applied piano) upon arrival at ECU if the recipient happens to be an incoming freshman. Preference will be given to deserving piano majors and minors although students majoring in other fields are eligible for this scholarship. The recipient must be a deserving student recommended by the ECU piano faculty to the Foundation Scholarship Committee.  Please use general application.
 
The Jessie Bell DeMoss Scholarship is a cash award to the outstanding senior music major on the basis of total contribution in music, along with above-average academic work.

This scholarship is for Music majors in both Vocal/Piano and Instrumental areas. Recipients will be selected by the Department of Music Faculty on the basis of contribution in their areas, along with above-average academic work.

ART
This scholarship will be awarded to an upper-level student attending East Central University who is majoring in art. The selection process will be conducted by the Art Department Faculty.
 
Recipients of this scholarship will be full-time students in good standing at East Central University. If the recipients are incoming freshmen students or transfer students, they shall be in good standing with their previous educational institution(s). This is established as an educational scholarship for tuition, fees, and/or books for students in the arts-music, theatre, art, and vocal performance at ECU. The first priority shall go to an Oklahoma High School student. Deserving students must have and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. This scholarship will be awarded to a student selected by the Theater Faculty as being the best “all around” technical worker for the two previous semesters. 
 
This scholarship will be given annually to the student judged by a committee to be the outstanding Radio-TV student at East Central University.   Please use general application.
 
This scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding student with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Three groups are considered for this award: students planning to pursue a profession in which public speaking will be used extensively, those planning to enter the teaching profession, and students who excel in forensic competition.  Please use general application.

The Donna Callison Scholarship will be awarded to a student in the area of Communications. The recipient is recommended by the Communications Department, with final approval by the Foundation Scholarship Committee.   Please use general application.
 
ENGLISH
 
The Criswell Memorial Scholarship is offered through the Ada Arts and Humanites Council (PO Box 453, Ada, OK 74821-0453). It is awarded to ECU seniors presenting evidence of past creative efforts and plans for future creative endeavors.
 
The recipient of this scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior majoring in English who is also a member of the Honors Program.  The English department will choose the recipient, and final approval will be made by the Foundation's Scholarship Committee. Please use general application.
  
This scholarship will be awarded to an English student who is a sophomore or higher in classification and who has a minimum GPA of 3.25. Please use general application.
 
The Dr. Darryl Fisher Scholarship will be awarded to the English Department through the Scissortail Writing Festival. It will be used to encourage students in writing, preferably to high school students who will be attending East Central University. Please use general application.
 
The Paul Hughes Memorial Writing Award is given to the winner of the annual Creative Writing Competition sponsored by the Department of English and Languages. Any type of creative writing will be eligible for consideration, including poetry, fiction, or non-fiction stories or articles. A faculty panel of judges will determine the cash award winner.
 
This scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior student majoring in English who has maintained at least a 3.25 gpa throughout his/her college career. The English department will choose the recipient, and final approval will be made by the Foundation's Scholarship Committee.
 
The recipient of this scholarship must be an English major and at least a sophomore in standing. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required and the recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student. Please use general application.
 
This scholarship will be awarded to incoming full-time freshmen students who are majoring or minoring in English and may continue for a maximum of four years. The recipient must have an ACT score of at least 25 and must maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA in order to continue the scholarship. The student must be a full-time student, carrying a minimum of 12 hours each semester. Each scholarship will be for a maximum of $4,000 for the academic year (not including summer). The financial need of the recipient will be a factor in the selection. The recipient of this scholarship must have a major in Human Resources, preferably in the Rehabilitation Counseling area. Preference will be given to a student with a disability. The recipient must be at least a junior and must maintain a 3.0 GPA before being considered for the award.  Application
 
Eligible applicants for this scholarship are graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Human Resources. Graduate student applicants must have completed at least nine hours in the MSHR program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Undergraduate applicants should be at the junior or senior level with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants should possess leadership qualities and have strong potential to make a positive and lasting impact in the Human Services Profession. Applicants for this scholarships must be full-time social work majors with junior or senior standing and have a cumulative gpa of 3.0. Applicants must be accepted into and have completed at least 12 hours in the ECU Social Work Program.  This scholarship will be selected by the ECU Social Work Department. application 
 
This scholarship will be granted to an outstanding junior or senior counseling major. A junior recipient is eligible to receive the scholarship again during the senior year. A 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.5 GPA for Sociology courses is favored.  Application
 
This scholarship will be awarded to a senior majoring in Human Service Counselig with a concentration in Rehabilitation or Services to the Deaf. The student must have a 3.0 GPA in major field, and must submit an essay on why he/she wants to work in the field of Rehabilitation and with disabled individuals. The recipient of this scholarship will be chosen by a committee consisting of a member of the EC Rehab Faculty, the chair or their designee, a member of OK Rehab Association, the chair or their designee; a member of the OK Rehab Council, the chair or their designee; and a family member of their designee of the Taylor Family.
 
HISTORY
 
The earnings from this endowment will provide scholarships for East Central University students who are majoring or minoring in Native American Studies. The recipient will be chosen by the History Department, with final approval by the Foundation Scholarship Committee. Please use general application.
 
The recipients of this scholarship must have declared a History major and must complete 24 semester hours during the Fall and Spring semesters. Incoming freshmen must have scored a 26 or above on the ACT to be considered for a full scholarship, and students already attending ECU, transfer students, and junior college graduates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above to be considered for a full scholarship. Recipients must be in good standing with the university and maintain their posture as good citizens as well as good students. The amount of the scholarships will be $2,000 pr semester, and prospective students must come to the campus for an in-depth interview with designated History faculty, Dean of Students, and a member of the ECU Foundation Scholarship Committee. Application
 
This is an annual cash stipend to be awarded to an East Central University student who prepares the best paper in History and/or Native American Studies.  Student must be full-time and has declared History or Native American Studies as a major/minor. 
 
FOREIGN LANGUAGES

The Eleanor Waner Dedmon Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman student who is working toward a minor in Spanish Education.  This scholarship can continue for a maximum of four years. The recipient must have an ACT score of at least 25 and maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA in order to continue the scholarship. The student also must carry a minimum of 12 hours per semester. Each scholarship will be for a maximum of $4,000 for the academic year, fall and spring. The recipient of this scholarship will be a freshman who graduates in good standing and plans to pursue a degree in English or History.  Selection will be based on academic achievement and financial need. The Edward Barton Brooks Scholarship will be awarded to students who have declared Government or Legal Studies as their major. The recipients must be enrolled in an adequate number of hours in government or legal studies courses each semester and be advancing satisfactorily to the completion of degree requirements. Incoming freshmen must have scored a 26 or above on the ACT. Students must be in good standing with the University and maintain their posture as good citizens as well as being good students. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has declared a major in legal studies. The recipient must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and attend on a full-time basis (at least 12 hours each semester).  Please use general application.

MATHEMATICS
 
This scholarship will be given at the beginning of each school year to the senior mathematics student who has the highest GPA over the first three years of study in mathematics.  Please use general application.

The Don and Jane Kellogg Math and Science Teacher Scholarship was established to assist students pursuing a secondary mathematics or science certification degree.  Preference will be given to applicants based on the following criteria:  graduate from an accredited Oklahoma high school, minimum of 3.0 GPA, ACT of 20 or above or ACT math and science sub scores of 18 or above. CARTOGRAPHY

SCIENCE
 
The recipient of this scholarship must be a junior or senior majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Math, or Physics. The student must have a 2.75 or above GPA and must prove good campus citizenship. Preference will be given to students who do not qualify for significant federally-funded financial aid. Please use general application.
 
Recipients of this scholarship will be selected by a committee, appointed by the Dean of the College of Health and Sciences at East Central University, comprised of faculty members representing the departments of Biology and Physics/Chemistry. The Dean will forward recommendations to the East Central University Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Committee.  Please use general application.
 
These scholarships will be awarded to individuals who are pursuing a degree in each of the following areas: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Nursing, and Environmental Health Science. One scholarship will be issued for each area. The recipients must complete at least 24 credit hours per year and maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA. This scholarship will be re-awarded for a maximum of eight consecutive regular semesters (not including summer school semesters).  Please use general application.

The Chemistry Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student majoring in chemistry. The recipient will be chosen by the Chemistry Department, with final approval by the Foundation Scholarship Committee.   Please use general application.
 
The Willis I. Decker Scholarship will be awarded to a chemistry major or minor who has maintained at least a 2.75 GPA. Financial need should be considered and special consideration will be given to the student who meets the largest percentage of his/her own college expenses as compared to other applicants. This award will be issued in the Spring of each year.  Please use general application.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE

The Ray Farmer Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student selected by the Criminal Justice Department. It is used to defray costs for a student in the COPS program. The student must possess potential for success as a CLEEt officer with a minimum of 2.8 GPA, and must be of excellent moral character, dependable and exemplify high integrity.  Application

FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE
 
The Trease Layton Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman majoring in Family and Consumer Science. Please use general application.
 
This scholarship will be awarded to a senior student in Family and Consumer Sciences to assist in career search.
 
This scholarship is awarded to a student who is currently enrolled as a Family and Consumer Sciences major and has completed from 45 to 70 hours. Recipients are required to have a 3.0 or higher grade point average. A copy of the current semester class schedule and transcript should be submitted along with a resume. The resume should include grade point, FCS major, work experience, scholastic accomplishments, organizational and service activities statement, statement of need, plus future career plans. Please use general application.
 
HEALTH
 
The Carlock Scholarship will be awarded to students in their sophomore, junior or senior years who are majoring in a health or hospital related field. Recipients are required to have a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and must have established a permanent place of residence in Carter, Love, Marshall, Murray, or Jefferson County. Ths scholarships is $2000 per semester and will be applied to the student's Bursar's account. Recipients are selected by a committee consisting of the Dean of the School of Math and Sciences, a Science Faculty member, and the Executive Director of the ECU Foundation, pending final approval by the Foundation Scholarship Committee  Application

The Ethel and Don Clawson Scholarship is available for East Central University students committed to entering the teaching profession. The recipient must be an upperclassman who has been admitted to the teacher education program and who is enrolled as a full-time student. A GPA of 3.0 must be maintained, and the second semester award is contingent upon first semester grades. Please use Education Application.

Recipients of this scholarship are recommended by the Dean of the School of Education to the Foundation Scholarship Committee. Recipients of the scholarship must have completed at least 45 credit hours and have been admitted to the Teacher Education program. In addition, recipients must be enrolled in a minimum of twelve credit hours and have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.75, or a 3.0 GPA in the last 30 hours. Also, the recipient must be committed to entering the teaching profession and must remain an Education major to be eligible for continuation of the scholarship.  Please use Education Application.

This scholarship was established to assist an Elementary Education student planning on becoming a Reading Specialist. If no Elementary Education student qualifies, preference will be given to a student planning on a career in coaching.  Please use Education Application.
 
This scholarship will be awarded to a student who meets the selection criteria below without regard to gender, ethnic, origin, or religious affiliation. Scholarship continuation is based on the students maintaining a 2.5 GPA and remaining in good university standing. The recipient will be a full-time student majoring in education or educational administration. Preference will be given to graduates of Wayne High School in McClain County, Oklahoma and or Stuart High School in Hughes County, Oklahoma. Please use general application.

The recipient of the John Hoggatt Memorial Scholarship must be a senior at ECU majoring in Special Education. The recipient must maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0, have financial need, possess leadership skills, and demonstrate high moral standards, integrity, and concern for others.  Please use Education Application.

The Jess and Trudy Nance Scholarship will be awarded to an East Central University student who is majoring in education. The recipient must have a minimum 2.7 GPA, have completed at least 36 hours, and been accepted into the Teacher Education Program. Financial need will be considered. The recipient of this scholarship must reapply each year for future consideration. Please use Education Application.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
 
The Jerry Anderson Award will be presented each Spring to a deserving graduating senior with a degree in Physical Education who has shown the desire and dedication to achieve in his/her chosen field. A cumulative 2.5 GPA is required, but ability in a particular sport should not be a factor. The Kinesiology Department Chair and Faculty will recommend a recipient to the Foundation Scholarship Committee.  Please use general application.
 
The recipient of the Glenna Shepard Cranford Endowed Scholarship will be a full-time student in good standing at East Central University. This is an educational scholarship for tuition, fees, and/or books for a student who participates in the Cheerleading program at ECU, with no requirement as to major. The student must have and maintain a 3.0 grade point average to qualify for this scholarship. MISCELLANEOUS/EXTERNAL
 
The Ada Elks Lodge Scholarship is available for students from area high schools approved by the Ada Elks Lodge, including Ada, Allen, Byng, Latta, Roff, Stonewall, Stratford, Vanoss and Coalgate. Grade requirements and financial need will be determined by the Lodge so long as it does not violate Oklahoma or East Central University standards. Recipients must reapply each semester to renew the scholarship, and special consideration will be given to past recipients who have maintained at least the minimum grade point average. Recipients of this scholarship should come from median annual income families and have a median grade point average. Recipients should not be eligible for state or federal financial aid or scholarships nor should they have received any scholarships from a high ACT score. Applications should be made to the Foundation. Application
 
These funds are contributed by the Ada Chapter of Lions Club International to provide scholarships to outstanding students who have distinguished themselves in their chosen area, or who have compiled outstanding academic records during high school. The Executive Director of the Foundation recommends the recipients.
  
The Ada High School Class of 1948 Scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School Senior who is recommended to the Foundation by the Ada High School Counselor or other adminstrator.
 
The Ada High School Class of 1950 Scholarship will be awarded to a student graduating from Ada High School ranking closest to the “50th” in their class, and planning to attend East Central University. The student will be recommended to the Foundation by an administrator at Ada High School.
 
The Ada High School Class of 1951 Scholarship will be  awarded to an Ada High School senior who is recommended to the Foundation by the Ada High School Counselor or other administrator.
 
The Brandon Osborn-Nicole Tribble Scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School graduate, preferably one who will be a first-generation college student. The recipient will be selected by Ada High School administrators and approved by the Foundation's Scholarship Committee.  
 
The Albert Bare Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman from Ada High School who, in addition to attending East Central, plans to be an Education Major, has a reasonably good GPA, and comes from a middle income family, and may not be eligible for other scholarships. Applicant names will be forwarded from the Ada High School Counselor or other administrator to Mrs. Janet Bare, who will recommend a recipient to the Foundation Scholarship Committee.  Please use general application.
 
This scholarship is awarded to a junior, senior, or graduate student majoring in Psychology, and will be awarded based on academic excellence and other factors as determined by the Psychology Department and the Foundation's Scholarship Committee.  The application for this scholarship can be obtained from the Psychology Department.
 
The recipient of this scholarship must have a GPA of 2.5 or better. This scholarship is to be awarded to a freshman student majoring in English or Journalism. The recipient will be selected on a basis of need and the inability to qualify for any other scholarship assistance. Please use general application.

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of Konawa High School. The principal of Konawa High School will recommend the recipient, subject to the approval of the Foundation Scholarship Committee. The amount of this scholarship is not to exceed the value of a Dean’s Scholarship.  Please use general application.
 
Students from the Butner/Okemah/Prague area who are planning on obtaining an education degree are eligible for this scholarship. They are to be recommended by the Prague counselor/principal/superintendent. This scholarship can be used for any major if there is not a qualified education major applicant. Please use general application.
 
This scholarship will be limited to members of St. Joseph Parish who are certified as regular participants in the Parish Religious Education Program by the Director of Religious Education at St. Joseph Parish. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants whose academic records show a high probability of successful completion of their studies and graduation from ECU and will be made on a financial need basis. 
 
The Nikki Stonecipher Memorial Scholarship will fund tuition, fees, and books of one academic year consisting of a minimum of 24 academic hours. This scholarship can be awarded for additional years to the same student. Preference will be given to graduates of Tupelo High School. Applications are available through Tupelo High School. The first consideration will be economic need. Recommendations will be made by Tupelo High School administration/faculty to Mr. and Mrs. Harland Stonecipher, with final approval by the Foundation's Scholarship Committee. 
 
FRATERNITY/SORORITY
 
This scholarship will be awarded to an active Phi Kappa Tau fraternity member based on leadership abilities and service to the organization and community. The recipient should have a 2.25 GPA, but leadership is stressed. Trustees of the Coleman Scholarship will recommend a recipient, and the Foundation Scholarship Committee will exercise final approval. This scholarship will be awarded to a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity who is majoring in one of the departments within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.   Please use general application.
 
The Alpha Gamma Delta Alumnae/Parent Scholarship will be awarded each semester to an active junior or senior member of the sorority. The recipient must have been a member of the sorority for at least one year, maintained a cumulative GPA of a 3.0, and active both on campus and in the community. The recipient will be selected by a Scholarship Committee consisting of the Chapter Advisor, Faculty Advisor, and Panhellenic Advisor with the selection subject to approval by the Foundation Scholarship Committee.
 
ALUMNI
 
The ECU Alumni Association Scholarship recipient is selected by the University Alumni Director and a committee of the Alumni Association officers. Each of the seven divisions of the University select one student from among those students who apply within their division, and this student’s application is forwarded to the Alumni Association. The seven applicants from each of the divisions are evaluated and interviewed by the Alumni Association Scholarship Committee, and the selection is forwarded to the Foundation Scholarship Committee for final approval.   Please use general application.
 
The ECU Alumni Legacy Scholarship is awarded to a full-time student who is a legacy (child or grandchild) of someone who has received a degree from East Central University. The student may not have completed more than 100 hours of undergraduate work at the time of the award or more than 18 hours if the student is a graduate student. The recipient must have an ACT score of 23 or greater and overall GPA of 2.5 in college courses. The Ada Coca-Cola Scholarship will be used for general scholarships approved by the ECU Foundation Scholarship Committee. The Benny and Rita Edwards Scholarship will be awarded to students majoring in Math or Science (pre-dental or pre-medical), preferably from the Konawa area. This student must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher. This scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Benny Edwards in honor of their parents’ tremendous support and strong emphasis on education.  Please use general application.

This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding high school senior in the upper portion of the graduating class. Preference should be given to students demonstrating an interest in music and to graduates of the Stonewall-McLish School District. Scholarship disbursement will be made one-half for the Fall semester of the student’s freshman year at East Central and one-half for the Spring semester. 
  
This fund was established in 1988 by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees to assist the University in recruiting top students to East Central. These funds will be used in conjunction with other funding sources to provide scholarships for students when possible having an ACT score of 25 or above. Recipients of the Watson Family Centennial Family and Consumer Sciences Education Scholarship must have completed 35 - 89 university hours, have a 2.8 GPA, and will need to submit a resume to include explanation of career plans in the field of Family and Consumer Education.   Please use general application.
 
This scholarship has been established to assist a full-time female student between the ages of 25 and 45, marital status of widowed or divorced, with at least one dependent. The scholarship can be awarded to either a beginning freshman or returning student--a minimum 3.0 GPA is required in both cases, or GED certification is acceptable for a beginning freshmen. This scholarship is for a senior athlete from Davis High School who will be attending East Central University.  It is for two semesters only, and the application can be obtained fom the Davis High School Counselor or the ECU Foundation.
