HYSTERICAL HOLIDAY HIT’ AT ECU ON NOV. 29
If Thanksgiving turkey and Black Friday specials don’t get you into the holiday spirit, a special Christmas show at East Central University should do the trick.
The Alley Cats, America's premier Doo-Wop group, will present their Christmas show, “Jingle Bell Rock – A Harmoniously Hysterical Holiday Hit,” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 [TUESDAY] in the Ataloa Theatre in ECU’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Theatre.
The a cappella group, known for its tight harmonies and universal humor, will perform Christmas classics and even invite the audience to join in.
The Alley Cats have been called a perfect blend of musical talent and comedic timing. They never miss a beat as they sing a cappella to the greatest songs of the 50s and 60s in their regular shows. Their interaction with audiences combined with their zany, spontaneous humor makes their shows refreshing and exciting for young and old alike.
The show is a bonus for season ticket holders in ECU’s Fine Arts Season lineup.
“We are excited to offer this show,” said Dr. Brad Jessop, director of ECU’s School of Fine Arts. “Our season ticket patrons will be admitted free and tickets for all others are only $12. That’s a bargain.”
Tickets may be purchased online at tickets.ecok.edu or reserved by calling the theatre’s box office at 580-559- 5751 or emailing email@example.com. All tickets, including those for season ticket holders, should be picked up at the will call window the night of the concert. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
Formed at Fullerton College in 1987, The Alley Cats have made it to the forefront of a cappella music. They landed their first professional gig at Disneyland's "Blast to the Past." Soon after, they appeared on TV and radio shows, at corporate events, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, schools and even a USO show aboard the John C. Stennis aircraft carrier welcoming home troops from Iraq.
They have performed with or opened for such notable celebrities such as Jay Leno, Rascal Flatts, The Beach Boys, Chubby Checker, The Coasters, Bill Medley, Sha Na Na and The Tokens, as well as sharing the stage with fellow a cappella artists The Bobs, The Blenders, The Nylons and Rockapella.
Whether they are entertaining the President at The White House or “edutaining” students in their nationally recognized Arts Education program, The Alley Cats are known for bringing the same level of energy to every show.
Financial assistance for ECU’s fine arts season has come from the ECU Foundation Inc., the Oklahoma and Ada Arts Councils, the Vinita Oliver Centennial Fine Arts Endowment and the East Central Credit Union.
