ECU ASSISTANT PROFESSOR REBECCA NICHOLSON-WEIR EARNS AWARD FOR BEST PAPER

Dr. Rebecca Nicholson-Weir

Dr. Rebecca Nicholson-Weir, East Central University assistant professor of English and Languages, was recently awarded the 2016 South Central Modern Language Association Prize for Best Paper in Historical, Literary and/or Cultural Studies.

Her paper was entitled “Time and Place Will Have Their Say: Experimental Narration in Zora Neale Hurston’s Dust Tracks on a Road.” This essay examines Hurston’s autobiography in the context of modernist experimental writing.

Nicholson-Weir has taught various English, literature, humanities and Native American courses at ECU since 2012. She achieved her Ph.D. in theory and cultural studies from Purdue University. Her M.A. in English Literature and B.A. in Anthropology and English are both from Texas Tech University.
