Dance students at East Central University will perform their spring dance concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday [APRIL 20-21] in the Chalmers Herman Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

Performers will be students in Dr. Victoria Dansby’s Improvisation and Composition Class and Jazz 1 Class, members of Collage, which is ECU’s dance ensemble, and alumni of the dance ensemble.

The concert will open with “Precept Simper,” choreographed by Kelsey Creed.

The ECU Dance Ensemble will present “A Point of Conflation,” choreographed by Dansby and Chia-Chi Chiang, a freelance performer, teacher and choreographer who has been a guest artist at ECU. The ensemble includes Kelsey Creed, Heath Holt, Natalie Isaacs, Jade McKenzie, Chris Geisler, Natalie Shackelford and Chris Scoles.

Senior projects will be Chris Geisler’s “Socratic Decision” and Kelsey Creed’s “Within Me.”

Also on the program are “Ashamed,” choreographed by Natalie Isaacs; “Muliebrity Privity,” choreographed by Heath Holt; “Maturation,” choreographed by Holt and Jade McKenzie; and “Tethered,” choreographed by Jazz 1 class members Pamela Chapman, Kelsey Creed, Lynette Howk, Amanda Huddleston and Lauren Hathcoat.

Alumni of the dance ensemble, Phoebe Barron, Shannon Kilburn, Michelle Rambo, Cara Peters and Mary Kay Tarver, will perform “A Life Journey” which was choreographed by Rambo.

Many of the students perform in several dances. Also included are Pamela Chapman, Emily Driver, Lacee Elliott, Kelsie Pletcher, Delaney Donaghey, Emily Rudolph and Amanda Huddleston.

The Finale will include the entire cast dancing to the Beatles’ “Hello, Goodbye” with vocalist Brittany Trail and pianist W.T. Skye Garcia.
