Do you dream of being more flexible, having better balance or finding a workout that makes you dance? If so, East Central University is offering Hatha Yoga, Gentle Yoga and Zumba classes to the community. The Zumba class begins Jan. 10 and both yoga classes begin Jan. 11.

“From gentle exercise to medium exercise or a high-energy workout, you will find something that meets your wants and lifestyle,” said Rebecca Gatz, the instructor for the yoga classes.

Gentle yoga is ideal for helping increase flexibility and improving circulation and vitality, she said. All adults are welcome, regardless of physical condition, age or weight. Classes will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on five Wednesdays from Jan. 11 through Feb. 8. The cost is $55. Another class will be offered from Feb. 15 through March 14.

Hatha yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on stretching, building strength, improving balance and relaxing the body. Participants will practice in comfortable clothing and with bare feet. This class will be held from 6:45 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays from Jan. 11 through Feb. 8 and again from Feb. 15 through March 14. Each class will cost $55.

Zumba is a cardiovascular class that combines body-sculpting movements with easy-to-follow dance steps. This unique combination creates a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness workout. Rhonda Hughes, a certified Zumba instructor, will lead the high-energy class from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Jan. 10 through March 1. The cost is $75.
