East Central University will screen the highly-acclaimed production of “Skylight” at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.

ECU SCREENS, in collaboration with Sigma Tau Delta and The Honors Student Association, is showing the recorded-live production of “Skylight” performed at the Royal National Theatre of London. Open to the public, the screening is $5 for students and $10 for members of the community.

Bill Nighy (“Love Actually,” “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”) and Carey Mulligan (“Inside Llewyn Davis,” “The Great Gatsby”) are featured in the highly-anticipated production of “Skylight.”

On a bitterly cold London evening, schoolteacher Kyra Hollis (Carey Mulligan) receives an unexpected visit from her former lover, Tom Sergeant (Bill Nighy), a successful and charismatic restaurateur whose wife has recently died. As the evening progresses, the two attempt to rekindle their once passionate relationship only to find themselves locked in a dangerous battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires. According to the Financial Times, “Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan beautifully convey the hurt inside these two wounded, stubborn creatures.”

Called complex, thrilling and provocative” by the Daily Express, “Skylight” is directed by Academy Award-nominated director Stephen Daldry, who recently directed the sell-out West End production of “The Audience” with Helen Mirren. The Olivier Best Play winner was written by David Hare who has written 29 plays for the stage along with numerous screenplays, including “The Hours and The Reader.”

This is the seventh in a series of NT Live screenings that has been presented by ECU SCREENS this fall. NT Live is the National Theatre's groundbreaking project to broadcast the best of British theatre to cinemas around the world. ECU SCREENS has presented eight productions, including six different Royal National Theater recorded live stage performances, throughout the fall semester. The screenings, which range from classic literary masterpieces to popular contemporary works, are all open to the public.
