Williams, a sophomore special education major from Allen, Texas, finished sixth in Persuasive Speaking. She teamed with Trail, a senior speech education major from Ada, to earn fifth place in Duo Drama Interpretation. Tiry, a freshman speech education major from Skiatook who was participating in her first intercollegiate tournament, ranked fourth in Poetry Interpretation.

David Houchin, a sophomore advertising/public relations major from Ada, was within a single point of reaching the final round of Impromptu Speaking. It was Houchin's first tournament. Jessica Cates, a junior speech education major from Holdenville, rounded out the Tiger entry.

The Blue Dragon Invitational was the first of two tournaments hosted that weekend by HCC. The Tigers also fared well at the second tournament, with Tiry finishing fourth in Program Oral Interpretation. Trail lost a tiebreaker to miss out on the final round in Program Oral Interpretation. Trail and Williams were one point away from the final round of Duo Drama Interpretation. Williams finished one point from the final round in Persuasive Speaking.
