Campus organizations have nominated 28 students as candidates for East Central University's Homecoming king and queen. ECU students will vote for the finalists on Wednesday [OCT. 28] and the king and queen will be announced during a coronation ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 31 [SATURDAY] before the Homecoming football game begins at 6 p.m.

All the candidates will ride in the Homecoming parade at noon Oct. 31 [SATURDAY].

Candidates for ECU royalty must have completed 30 credit hours at ECU and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The selection of the finalists is based on their resumes, essays on why they should be selected and interviews.

The candidates for Homecoming queen include:

Rozalin Austin of Wayne, a junior majoring in kinesiology, represents the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was a member of ECU's softball team for two years and was named ECU's Strength and Conditioning Female Athlete of the Year in 2007-2008. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Tiger Leadership Program, Kinesiology Club and Physical Therapy Club. She is the daughter of Terry Austin and Lisa Albert.

Ashley Branscum of Checotah, a junior majoring in music education, represents the East Central University Marching Band. She is the daughter of Angela and Todd Reasor.

Aleisha Brewer of Wister, a senior majoring in political science, represents Pi Sigma Alpha. She is ECU's representative for the 2009 National Education of Women Leadership Institute and the George Nigh Leadership Academy. She is past president and current treasurer of the Legal Professions Association, president of Pi Sigma Alpha, vice president of Alpha Chi, Alpha Gamma Delta and the Young Democrats. She is the daughter of Derek and Debbie Brewer.

Dare Chronister of Ardmore, a senior majoring in kinesiology, represents Zeta Tau Alpha, Zeta Pi Lambda and Phi Kappa Tau. Her activities include serving as president of Zeta Tau Alpha and chair of Welcome Week and the Salvation Army Angel Tree for CREW, the student activities board. She has been secretary of the Honor Court and Student Senate, and president and secretary of the Kinesiology Club. She is the daughter of Max and Anna Chronister.

Allison Finley of Davis, a junior majoring in English, represents the Russian Club. She is president of Literati and a member of the Russian Club. She is the daughter of David and Myra Finley.

Lauren Hensley of Mounds, a senior majoring in history, represents Chi Omega. She is president of the Student Senate for the second year and also served as a freshman representative and secretary. She is southeast regional director of the Oklahoma Student Government Association and treasurer of Chi Omega. She received the Rising Sophomore Leader Award and is an Outstanding Greek Scholar and member of the Order of Omega. She is the daughter of Bob and Denise Hensley.

Christina Isom of Lehigh, a junior majoring in legal studies, represents Alpha Gamma Delta. She has been secretary of the Legal Professions Association, vice president, scholarship, of Alpha Gamma Delta and vice president of Pi Sigma Alpha. She is the daughter of Charlene Isom.

Semetria Mangon of Mount Pleasant, Texas, represents the Association of Black Students. She is a member of Collage dance ensemble and the ECU Dance Team. She is the daughter of Donna Mangon.

Stephanie Miller of Snellville, Ga., a senior majoring in nursing, represents the ECU Nursing Student Association. She is the daughter of Mark and Sheila Miller. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and Tiger Leadership and has been named an Outstanding Greek Scholar.

Lauren Polk of Hugo, a junior majoring in family and consumer sciences education, represents the Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She is a resident assistant and a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron honor society. She is the daughter of Blaine and Linda Polk.

Sarah Reihart of Broken Arrow, a senior majoring in business administration/marketing, represents the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She was named a cross country NCAA Academic All-American last spring as well as ECU's most valuable runner. She has participated in Students in Free Enterprise and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is the daughter of Mike and Jackie Reihart.

Jennifer Sanchez of Allen, a senior majoring in English, represents the Honors Student Association. She received the Greek Scholar Award in 2007 and is a member of Chi Omega. She was a founding member of Literati, the English club. She is the daughter of Richard and Tammy Frederick and Victor and Connie Sanchez.

Brittany Trail of Ada, a senior majoring in communications, represents Collage dance ensemble. She performs with Collage and has appeared in numerous ACT II theatre productions. She played Cinderella in ECU's musical theatre production last year and is a member of the singing group Gunshy. She is the daughter of Vickie Reifsnider and Dr. Steve Walker.

Kari Wilson of Latta, a junior majoring in family and consumer sciences, represents the Tiger Ambassadors. She is vice president of Zeta Tau Alpha and a member of the Tiger Ambassadors, ECU Dance Team, Honor Court, Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Phi Upsilon Omicron and Tiger Leadership. She is the daughter of Tammy Wilson.

Jennifer Young of Choctaw, a senior majoring in biology, represents the Bio-Med Club. She is a member of Tri-Beta biological honor society and historian of the Bio-Med Club. She was an Oklahoma Academy of Science oral presentation winner in 2008. She is the daughter of Al and Kathy Young.

The candidates for Homecoming king include:

Jesse Allen of Ada, a senior majoring in business administration, represents the Tiger Ambassadors. He is president and past vice president of the Tiger Ambassadors and a member of the ECU Honor Court. He served in the Student Senate since 2005 and was vice president last year. He has been named Peer Mentor of the Year, Outstanding Freshman and received the Tiger Pride Leadership Award. He is the son of Russ and Amy Allen.

Beau Carter of Shawnee, a senior majoring in environmental health science, represents Pi Kappa Alpha. He is a member of Alpha Chi national honor society, vice president of the Interfraternity Council and Pi Kappa Alpha and is a member of the Native American Student Association, Tiger Leadership and the Order of Omega Greek honor society. He is the son of Truman and Jolene Carter.

James Cluck of Stonewall, a senior majoring in physics, represents the Russian Club. He has been a Tiger Ambassador and member of the Math Club. He is the son of Dr. Terry and Jane Cluck.

Jordan Hearod of McAlester, a junior majoring in pre-medicine, represents the Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. He has been a student intern for U.S. Rep. Tom Cole and president and vice president of the Honors Student Association. He is a member of the Russian Club, Bio-Med/Tri Beta, Society of Physics Students and Bridging Cultures Club. He is the son of Dana and Kelly Sandman and Kevin and Kari Hearod.

Tyler Jackson of Lilburn, Ga., a senior majoring in environmental health science, represents the Student-Athlete Advisory Council. He completed an internship last summer with the U.S. Public Health Service in Fort Defiance, Ariz. He is a member of the cross country team. He is vice president of the Environmental Science Club and is the son of Mark and Michana Jackson.

Joe Jacobi of Marlow, a junior majoring in history, represents the Honors Student Association. He is president of the Honors Student Association and vice president of the Society of Physics Students. He is a member of the Math Club and is the son of Rick and Karen Jacobi.

Tim Long of Tecumseh, a junior majoring in music education, represents Collage dance ensemble. He is a member of the University Chorus, University Chorale, the Gospel Singers and the Opera Workshop. He is the son of Dan Long and Kathy Long.

Joe Mohr of Sayre, a junior majoring in political science, represents Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society. He is a member of the University Chorale, the Opera Workshop, College Republicans and Chi Alpha. He served as an intern for U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas. He is the son of Jeff and Laura Mohr.

James Monroe of Ada, a post-graduate student, represents MENC, the National Association for Music Educators. He is the son of Leonard and Merry Monroe.

Anthony Nessman of Oklahoma City, a senior majoring in computer science, represents Phi Kappa Tau. He is the son of Steve and Shelly Nessman.

Anthony Shelton of Ada, a junior majoring in biology and nursing, represents Bio-Med/Tri Beta. He is a member of Alpha Chi national honor society and Bio-Med/Tri Beta. He is a certified nurse's assistant and is the son of Rick and Francene Shelton.

Jay Thompson of Wentzville, Mo., a senior majoring in business administration, represents Sigma Tau Gamma. He is the son of Bret and Kim Thompson.

Kelvin Wood of Tipton, a senior majoring in kinesiology, represents the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has been an ECU cheerleader and appeared in ECU's production of "Oklahoma!" in 2007.
