FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR ECU HOMECOMING PARADE BANDS, FLOATS
Wanted: Marching bands, floats, decorated cars or trucks and walking groups to be part of East Central University's Centennial Homecoming Parade at noon Oct. 31 [SATURDAY] on Ada's Main Street.
"We want this parade, during ECU's 100th birthday, to be spectacular," said ECU President John Hargrave. "We want a lot of marching bands and entries of all kinds. We have funds available this year to help high school bands with travel expenses to Ada and to help ECU organizations purchase materials for their floats."
High school or middle school bands that march and play in the parade will receive $100, Hargrave said.
Floats, vehicles and walking entries should follow the Homecoming theme, "Celebrating 100 Years: Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger."
Parade applications must be submitted before 4 p.m. Oct. 23. The applications are available online at http://www.ecok.edu/campus_life/crew/homecoming/paradeform.htm or at the Campus Life and Leadership Office, Room 152 in the University Center. They can be submitted online or brought to the office. For more information, call 559-5207.
To receive money to help build floats, active student organizations must submit their applications, plans and sketches of the floats to the Campus Life and Leadership Office by 4 p.m. Oct. 12. The first 10 organizations to submit applications and designs will receive $100 each, said Kathy Johnson, director of campus life and leadership.
Another annual tradition is the banner contest. Student organizations should submit applications before 4 p.m. on Oct. 23 and bring their finished banners to the University Center before 2 p.m. Oct. 26.
