Two events at East Central University will enable participants to explore the world through Exotic International Teas and Desserts and an Alternative Christmas Market and Gift Fair on Friday, Nov. 16.

The Exotic Teas and Desserts will be prepared by ECU’s International Student Connection Club and will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Stanley Wagner Ballroom of the Memorial Student Union.

Tickets are available at the door or in advance. The cost is $5 for ECU students and $10 for adults and non-students. Children, under age 5, eat free. Proceeds will benefit ECU’s international scholarship fund and activities for international students.

Admission is free to the Alternative Christmas Market and Gift Fair which will be held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the North Lounge of the Memorial Student Union.

It includes charity gift-giving and sponsorships for projects from Alternative Gifts International and artisans’ crafts from Ten Thousand Villages. Proceeds from both help impoverished people from around the world.

ECU’s Office of International Student Programs is sponsoring the evening of Exotic Teas and Desserts, along with local restaurants.

Ten Thousand Villages helps artisans around the world make a fair price on such arts and crafts as baskets, pottery, accessories and toys. The Alternative Gift Market offers ways to feed, house, provide health care, education and training, promote hope and economic opportunity, support environment and provide clean water to communities across the globe.
