The East Central University Athletics Department is partnering with McDonald’s in Arlington Center on September 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. for ECU Athletics Night.

Not only will athletes and coaches from numerous sports be working at the restaurant to raise funds for their department but they will also be participating in a pep-rally at 7 p.m. in the Arlington Center parking lot.

The pep-rally will include performances by the ECU band, dance team and cheerleaders, as well as recognition of the football players, contests and prizes. Head coach, Tim McCarty, will also speak.

“We are excited for the opportunity to partner with McDonald’s again,” ECU Director of Athletics, Brian DeAngelis, said. “There are 13 sports at ECU, and we appreciate the support and assistance our athletes receive from the McDonald’s owners, employees and community.”

Community members are welcome to attend the ECU Athletics Night and pep-rally at the McDonald’s located on North Country Club Road.

“The idea to partner with and support ECU seemed like a natural fit,” Kathy Thorley, local McDonald’s owner, said. “Everyone enjoys this type of event plus its fun for all ages.”

A percentage of all in-store and drive-thru food sales during the designated time frame will benefit intercollegiate athletics at the university. In addition, the university receives any tips and donations made during the fundraiser.

The event is being held two days prior to the first home game for the ECU Tiger football team against Northeastern State.
