The East Central University Music Department will present the Ninth Annual ECU Faculty, Students and Friends Composer Concert at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, at the Ataloa Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

The concert is free and open to the public.

W.T. Skye Garcia, composer, is the concert series coordinator.

The program will feature music composed by Steve Filkins, Dr. Benjamin T. Finley, Anna Tynsky, Tori Davison, Rudy Lupinski, Michael McCrea, Ashley Tucker, Kendra Grasser, Josey Allen, Zach Garcia, Steven Davidson and W.T. Skye Garcia.

The program will begin with “Excursion #1 in A ƅ Major”, composed and played by Filkins on the piano. “Four Landscapes for Solo Marimba”, composed and played on the marimba by Finley, is the next selection, followed by “Bittersweet,” a guitar and vocal composed by Tynsky.

Also on the program are “On the Rousseau’s The Snake Charmer,” which features lyrics by Dr. Mark Walling and music by Filkins. Melody Baggech will provide the vocal with support from Julianna Overmier (flute), Finley (cabasa) and Rudy Lupinski (piano).

“A Valediction,” composed by W.T. Skye Garcia, is next with tenor Zach Garcia and Ricardo de la Torre on the piano. “Set Me as a Seal upon Your Heart”, composed by Tori Davison and Lupinski, is the next song. That will be followed by two selections, composed, played on the guitar and sung by Michael McCrea - “Dancing Proposal” and “I Won’t Bring You Flowers.”

Ashley Tucker will play the guitar and serve as the lead singer on a song she composed “Take You.” She will be accompanied by Angela Gurley (djembe and vocals), Matt Roland (stand-up bass) and Bradley McCawley (guitar and vocals).

“Anchored in Love” is a selection in which Kendra Grasser provides the lyrics and Josey Allen the music. Josey Allen is the lead vocalist and will play the acoustic guitar. Joe Allen will perform the electric guitar, Carl Allen will play the bass and Bill Vann will perform on the drums.

“Shoulda Been Slytherin”, composed by Zach Garcia, is the next song. Performing the vocals will be Chris Geisler (tenor), Karli Plunkett (soprano) and Trey Shofner (tenor) with Zach Garcia on the keyboard and W.T. Skye Garcia on the piano.

“Salvation”, composed by Steven Davidson, rounds out the concert with Justin Cody as the lead guitarist, Davidson on the rhythm guitar and vocals, Jacob Green on the drums and Jeremy Green on the bass guitar.
