Sarah Suter has been selected as East Central University’s new Director of Student Organizations and Greek Life, it was announced recently.

Suter recently completed her master’s degree, MSE-PD with an emphasis in higher education leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She also received her bachelor’s degree of science education from that institution.

She comes to ECU from the office of career and leadership development at UW-Whitewater.

“We are thrilled to have someone like Ms. Suter in this position,” said Boomer Appleman, dean of ECU students and student development. “After meeting with Sarah and appraising feedback from the search committee, it became clear she has the enthusiasm, experience, knowledge, and commitment necessary to ensure that our organizations and students are provided leadership and support needed to enhance their collegiate experience through programming and events.”

Suter has a wide variety of experience working with student leaders and organizations, primarily fraternities and sororities. In the past two years as a graduate assistant, she helped design, execute and evaluate many aspects related to guiding over 200 clubs and organizations on campus in their activities and goals.

“I am very passionate about helping students put to practice the knowledge they are gaining inside the classroom through their Greek involvements and student activities outside the classroom,” said Suter. “I have a very collaborative and student-centered leadership style and attitude about the work place. I am very interested in facilitating development of the whole student and building relationships with individuals across campus.”
