In an effort to pitch a business idea and trade on a virtual stock market, high school and college students are invited to participate in the East Central University Tiger Tank Competition set for Thursday, Nov. 3, in ECU’s Stonecipher School of Business at the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.

The competition goes from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. with the Leonard Limes Lecture and lunch to follow from 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. in ECU Foundation Hall of the CBCC.

Also being conducted is the StockTrak Stock Market Challenge, sponsored by Kellogg and Sovereign, LLC, in the Kellogg & Sovereign Financial Trading Lab. There students will get to experience a stock market simulation with live data.

Prize sponsors for the Tiger Tank and StockTrak are Ram Jack, the Ada Jobs Foundation, Inc., LeachCo, Inc. and Communication Federal Credit Union.

The cost is $20 per student, which includes the competition, lunch and a t-shirt. The registration deadline is Oct. 17.

Craig Scheef, ECU alumnus and founder, chairman and chief executive of Texas Security Bank, will deliver the Limes Lecture. Texas Security Bank was rated No. 5 among the healthiest banks in America in 2015 by DepositAccounts.com. Scheef had previously served as community bank president for the Bank of Texas – a subsidiary of BOK Financial.

Scheef played football and was named an NAIA All-American his junior and senior seasons. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration-marketing from ECU in 1985. In 2005, he received the Milam Award at ECU for being an ECU football alumnus who excelled in his chosen vocation.

Limes, a geologist, attorney and entrepreneur from Konawa who lived in New Orleans, established the lectureship to emphasize entrepreneurism in 2000 with a $25,000 gift to the ECU Foundation Inc. He attended ECU for a year and a half in 1946-47 and then completed a degree in geology from the University of Oklahoma. After he went to night school in New Orleans to earn a law degree, he and two partners formed a law firm for five years. He established an oil and gas exploration company and worked as an attorney specializing in oil- and gas-related legal matters.

The cost for lunch for non-competitors is $10. To make a reservation or to obtain more information contact Julie Bradam at 580-559-5274 or jbradam@ecok.edu.
