TWO INSTRUMENTAL CONCERTS SET FOR EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

The sounds of instrumental music will fill the air as two free concerts, presented by the East Central University Music Department, will take place on Thursday, April 19, and Sunday, April 22, in the Ataloa Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

Lovers of jazz and rock music will enjoy the ECU Jazz Ensemble Concert, set for this Thursday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. The Jazz Ensemble is under the direction of Kirk Palmer.

The ECU Symphonic Band and this year’s Oklahoma Music Educators Association College Honor Band, the ECU Wind Ensemble, will perform on Sunday, April 22, at 3 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre.

Student conductors will direct the Symphonic Band and this will be Dr. Allen Correll’s last time to direct the Wind Ensemble before his retirement. The Wind Ensemble will be performing the music of Elliot Del Borgo and Percy Grainger.

Saied Award winners will also be announced and this year’s Concerto Competition winner Corey Burton will perform on the trombone.
