Understanding your finances, the how, the why and the when of managing your money is a skill set that will be with you the rest of your life! If you have not developed the mindset that you handle your finances, then NOW is the time! Financial Literacy for You at East Central University (FLY@ECU) has developed a program that will introduce you to resources that will help you set long- and short-term goals, build a budget that will help you reach those goals, and plan for your future. Now is the time to bring the topic of finances out of the dark and into the light! Everything we do revolves around money! So, the more we know about what makes us successful at managing our money, the less stress we will experience because of poor decisions we might make concerning our finances. By learning, understanding, and adopting just a few principles about money management, you will be on your way to thriving financially instead of just barely getting by. If you could choose, wouldn’t you want to be financially successful? Make the choice to start developing good spending habits now while you are in college, then when you begin your career you will have the skill set to reach your long-term life goals.

East Central University is here to support and offer guidance as you develop your financial literacy. The university has adopted an on-line course, CashCourse, that will equip you to better manage your money. This course is supplied free of charge by the Federal Endowment for Financial Education (FEFE).

First, create an account at Cashcourse and sign up with your ECU email. If you are not a student at ECU, you should use your personal email to set up an account. If you will be using CashCourse through an ECU course, for example, Freshman Seminar, then a course has already been designed for you and will be listed under “My Assignments” under your instructor. If you are working independently through topics that you choose, then your results will be reported under “My Activity”, “Self-Study”. There are many resources on the Fly@ECU webpage you should explore in addition to the CashCourse modules. Knowledge is power, and we hope your takeaway from this program is confidence and optimism as you build your financial literacy!

Welcome to FLY@ ECU! You are cleared for take-off!
