ECU Scholarship Opportunities
We are happy you are interested in continuing your education at East Central University. We offer many different scholarship opportunities from academic scholarships, to departmental, to scholarships through the Foundation Office to help with offset the cost.
Beginning with the 2016-2017 award year, all students receiving any type of institutional scholarship (Academic, Athletic, Music, Band, etc) must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Any scholarship recipient that does not complete the FAFSA will NOT receive their scholarship. This includes any type of tuition and/or room waiver.
Academic scholarship selection at ECU is a competitive process. Meeting the minimum requirements for consideration does not ensure selection. Your completed application must be postmarked no later than February 1. Freshman scholarship recipients will be notified of their awards. Renewal of awards is based upon successful completion of at least 12 hours at ECU during each academic semester (fall and spring terms) and the continued availability of funds.
Freshmen and Transfer Students
All fees and meal plans are not included with tuition or room waivers.
All scholarships are not automatic and are awarded based on the availability of funds.
You may be eligible for Academic Scholarships if you complete the scholarship application and are admitted by February 1. (Due to recent updates in our admissions software and as a courtesy, the deadline date has been extended to March 1st.)
Candidates for the Regent Baccalaureate, Oklahoma Academic, ECU Academic, Tiger, and Big Cat Scholarships must complete the scholarship application form and questionnaire. Though candidates for these scholarships are not required to attend an interview, attending an interview for the Honors or PLC can increase your chances of being awarded a scholarship.
Candidates for the Honors and Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Scholarships must attend an interview in addition to completing the scholarship application form and questionnaire. Candidates for the Honors scholarship must also write an essay. The essay prompt may be found here:www.ecok.edu/honors/application
All students that qualify for scholarship will be sent a letter and email containing the required questionnaire and the interview dates in early February.
Please be aware that though you may qualify to apply for a specific scholarship, it is not assured you will be offered that scholarship. Due to the limited number of scholarships and the high number of applicants this year, the scholarship process will be very competitive.
Many scholarships are awarded through the ECU Foundation. Please visit the Foundation pages for more information about all the scholarship options available.
Some academic departments also have scholarships available to students majoring in a particular subject area. Please visit the department homepage for your prospective major for more information.
