ECU TRIP OFFERS TOUR OF IMPRESSIONIST PAINTINGS IN FORT WORTH

An opportunity to view a collection of 92 of the most celebrated works of the great Impressionist painters will be offered Nov. 1 [SATURDAY] by East Central University's Center of Continuing Education and Community Services.

Participants in a day-long trip to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, will tour "The Impressionists: Master Paintings from the Art Institute of Chicago" with works by the most beloved group of painters of all time.

DAY OF DIALOGUE HELD AT ECU TO DISCUSS ELECTION ISSUES

With the election less than a month away and with major issues facing the nation, from the financial crisis to education and health care to the war on terror, voters may feel more confused than ever - especially first time voters.

ECU THEATRE SEASON OPENING WITH 'THE FOREIGNER' FOR HOMECOMING

Take a boring, very shy, insecure Englishman and drop him in a remote Georgia fishing lodge for a few days. Throw in some local southern characters, a bit of sinister intrigue and danger and the result is "The Foreigner," a popular comedy that will be staged Oct. 22-25 [WEDNESDAY - SATURDAY] during Homecoming Week at East Central University.

ORGANIZATIONS NOMINATE CANDIDATES FOR ECU'S HOMECOMING KING, QUEEN

Students representing 11 campus organizations have been nominated for East Central University's Homecoming king and queen. Students vote for the top five queen candidates and the top five candidates for king.

This is only the second year a Homecoming king has been selected.

ECU CLOSED FOR FALL BREAK

East Central University will be closed Thursday and Friday [Oct. 16 - 17] for fall break. No classes will be in session and offices will be closed. The university will re-open at 8 a.m. Oct. 20 [Monday].

The Linscheid Library will close at 10 p.m. on Wednesday and will be open from 4 - 8 p.m. on Sunday [Oct. 19].

ECU STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM OFFERING TOUR OF SPAIN NEXT MARCH

A tour of three of Spain's fascinating cities will be offered next March 14-22 as part of East Central University's Study Abroad Program.

Participants can earn three hours of academic credit in Spanish culture or language as they experience the country's culture and history and immersion in the Spanish language.

ECU CELEBRATES HOMECOMING WITH WEEK-LONG EVENTS

East Central University invites students, alum, faculty, staff and friends of the university to celebrate ECU's Homecoming, Oct. 21 - 25. This year's Homecoming theme is "Vote for Roary," Roary the Tiger being ECU's mascot.

Several ECU student organizations and the ECU Alumni Association have planned events through the week leading up to the 6 p.m. kickoff Saturday [Oct. 25] of the football game between the ECU Tigers and Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

ENTRY DEADLINE SET FOR ECU’S HOMECOMING PARADE

East Central University's homecoming parade will begin at noon on Oct. 25 [Saturday]. Entry forms to participate in the parade are due by 4 p.m., Oct. 15 [Wednesday]. Late entries may be accepted through Oct. 21 [Tuesday]. Please try to avoid late entries.

This year's homecoming theme is "Vote for Roary." Roary the Tiger is ECU's mascot.

ECU HOSTING REGIONAL COMPUTER PROGRAMMING CONTEST OCT. 17-18

Students from universities in Oklahoma and Texas will come to East Central University Oct. 17-18 [FRIDAY-SATURDAY] to sharpen their programming skills while competing in the 33rd annual Association for Computing Machinery's International Collegiate Programming Contest.

KYLE FOSTER RECEIVES FORTNIGHTLY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Kyle Foster of Bromide, a senior political science major at East Central University, has received a $250 scholarship from the Fortnightly Club of Ada. He was selected on the basis of academic achievement and leadership skills.
