55TH ANNUAL FACULTY EXHIBITION UNDERWAY IN ECU'S POGUE GALLERY

The 55th Annual Faculty Exhibition has opened in the new Pogue Gallery in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at East Central University.

A reception for the artists will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. April 9 [FRIDAY], the last day of the exhibit. Refreshments will be served.

The Art Department holds the exhibit to feature items from each faculty member.

SHOWTIME PERFORMING TONIGHT BEFORE HEADING TO NEW YORK

Members of Showtime, East Central University's music theatre ensemble, will present a mock master class at 8 tonight [MARCH 25] as they prepare for three master classes in New York City with New York University and Julliard School professionals.

Showtime, under the direction of Patrick F. Sweet, has been offered the opportunity to study in New York from March 30 to April 4.

OCJA PLANNING CONFERENCE APRIL 9 AT EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

The Oklahoma Criminal Justice Association (OCJA) will hold its annual conference on April 9 [FRIDAY] in the Stanley Wagoner Ballroom in the Memorial Student Union at East Central University in Ada. This year's theme will be "New Horizons: A Changing World."

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Steve Turner, ECU vice president for administration and finance. He is a former criminal justice coordinator and department chair at ECU.

LOCAL RESIDENTS ATTEND NATIONAL SMART START CONFERENCE

Twelve Ada-area residents attended an online National Smart Start Conference at East Central University recently. It was sponsored by Smart Start South Central and ECU to give people in the Ada area a chance to hear national speakers without leaving town.

TOP JUNIOR HIGH, HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE STUDENTS COMPETING AT ECU

The regional winners of junior high and high school science projects and research papers will compete for prizes beginning Thursday [MARCH 25] at the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair and the Oklahoma Junior Academy of Science held annually at East Central University.

Cash, science-related prizes and scholarships will be awarded in the two competitions.

CHICKASAW WOMEN'S CONFERENCE, FORUM SET APRIL 8 AT ECU

Several entertaining sessions and informative speakers are planned for the 2010 Dynamic Women of the Chickasaw Nation Conference and Forum, scheduled for Thursday, April 8, at East Central University in Ada. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

This year's theme is "The Balanced Life" with related sessions to explore solutions for better health, greater spirituality, creativity and balanced leadership. Scheduled sessions include:

OSU MARKETING PROFESSOR TO DELIVER ANNUAL PARKER ETHICS LECTURE AT EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

Dr. Joshua Lyle Weiner, professor and head of the Marketing Department at Oklahoma State University, will present "Ethics, Marketing, Choice and the Attack on Individual Freedom" at the 20th annual Parker Ethics Lecture March 23 [TUESDAY] at East Central University in Ada.

Weiner will speak at 4:30 p.m. in the Estep Multimedia Center in the Bill S. Cole University Center. The public is invited and there is no charge for admission.

FORMER EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT BILL COLE DIES

Dr. Bill S. Cole, president emeritus of East Central University, died Wednesday in Ada [MARCH 10] after a battle with cancer.
