MOTORCYCLE ART EXPO SET SEPT. 18-19 AT EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY IN ADA

Free bike and tattoo contests, a motorcycle art exhibit and the opportunity to see pre-1916 motorcycles participating in the coast-to-coast Motorcycle Cannonball endurance run will be part of the Motorcycle Art Expo Sept. 18 and 19 [SATURDAY AND SUNDAY] at East Central University in Ada.

INDIGENOUS RIGHTS ACTIVIST DELIVERING ROTHBAUM LECTURE AT ECU

Walter Echo-Hawk, a noted Native American lawyer, indigenous rights activist and author, will deliver the Julian J. Rothbaum Distinguished Lecture in Public Affairs Sept. 16 [THURSDAY] at East Central University.

Echo-Hawk will discuss “In the Courts of the Conqueror: The Constitution and the American Indian” at 7 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

CONCERT PIANIST PETRONEL MALAN PERFORMING AT ECU SEPT. 16

Concert pianist Petronel Malan, a multiple Grammy nominee and gold medal winner of several international piano competitions, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 [THURSDAY] at the Ada Arts & Heritage Center, 14th and Rennie.

DINNER TO RAISE FUNDS FOR FUTURE OFFICERS TO STUDY BATTLEFIELD

Ada's Sante Fe Steakhouse will hold a fundraiser dinner Thursday [SEPT. 9] for East Central University's Guard Officer Leader Development (GOLD) Program, part of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. The dinner will be served from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Chickasaw Community Center, 700 E. Mississippi.

VINITA OLIVER ENDOWMENT TO AID ECU FINE ARTS ACTIVITIES

Dr. Clarence G. Oliver, a long-time educator and superintendent of Broken Arrow Schools, has established the Vinita June (Shirley) Oliver Centennial Fine Arts Endowment at East Central University in honor of his late wife. Both are graduates of ECU.

ECU OFFERING TWO WORKSHOPS ON WRITING GRANT PROPOSALS

Two opportunities to learn how to write winning grant proposals will be offered in September at East Central University.

Participants can enroll in the Fundamentals of Grant Proposal Writing workshop either Sept. 20 [MONDAY] or Sept. 21 [TUESDAY]. Instructor Robert Bradley has taught the course for state and national conferences, universities and colleges, government agencies and non-profit organizations.

ECU COURSE COMBINING HEALTHY HOMES, ENERGY EFFICIENCY TRAINING

A one-day Healthy Homes and Energy Efficiency Workshop will be offered twice, on Sept. 14 or Sept. 15, at East Central University in Ada.

ECU STUDENT INTERN, SPACE SCIENTIST SPEAKING AT NASA DAY AT ECU

Kristy Watson of Pauls Valley, an East Central University senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in both cartography (with a geotechniques concentration) and biology, will give a presentation Sept. 21 [TUESDAY] about her experiences as a summer intern at the NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, Calif.
