BEGINNING FRESHMEN EARLY ADVISEMENT, ENROLLMENT SESSION DATES SLATED FOR JULY AT ECU

ADA – Those planning to attend East Central University as freshmen this fall are required to attend one of the Beginning Freshmen Early Advisement and Enrollment Sessions in July.

The open dates are the 10th, 15th, 17th and 22nd.  The advisement sessions begin at 12:15 p.m. each day.

Space for each of these advisement and enrollment sessions is limited so reservations must be made by calling the ECU Academic Advising Center, at 580-559-5841. No last minute walk-ins will be accepted.

ECU NURSING INSTRUCTOR EARNS PRESTIGIOUS SCHOLARSHIP

ADA - Jennifer Heck’s love of nursing and teaching has taken her to the next level of her career.

Heck, instructor of nursing at East Central University, has received the first-ever University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Two-Year Family-Centered Nursing Science Predoctoral Scholarship.

“I am very honored at having been selected,” Heck said.

ECU AT ARDMORE NURSING PROGRAM OFFERING HESI EXAM

ADA – The East Central University Nursing Program at the University Center of Southern Oklahoma in Ardmore is offering the HESI (Health Education Systems, Inc.) or E2 exam, a test that helps determine entrance into the program, on July 25 and Sept. 6 at 617 W. Broadway in Ardmore.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG ABUSE WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR JULY 11 AT EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

ADA – Prescription Drug Abuse: Crisis in Oklahoma will be the topic of discussion as East Central University and the Brandon Whitten Institute for Addiction and Recovery hosts a workshop on Friday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Estep Auditorium of the Bill S. Cole University Center.

The workshop, conducted by Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Director Darrell Weaver, will focus on prescription drug abuse, common drugs of abuse, the prescription monitoring program and laws regarding prescription drugs.

THRASH POSTHUMOUSLY HONORED AS ECU DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS

Billie Thrash accepts Distinguished Alum Award for husband William C. Thrash

East Central University honored the late William C. Thrash with the 2014 Distinguished Alumnus Award during the ECU Foundation’s Evening of Honors and Recognition in May. Accepting the award for her husband was Billie Thrash (center). Also pictured are ECU President John R. Hargrave and Elizabeth Vezina, president of the ECU Alumni Association. William Thrash supervised, produced and/or directed a multitude of local, regional and national television productions in his more than 50-year career. He was the donor for the William C.

STATE SEN. PADDACK HONORED AS ECU DISTINGUISHED ALUMNA

East Central University honored State Sen. Susan Paddack (center) with a 2014 Distinguished Alumna Award during the ECU Foundation’s Evening of Honors and Recognition in May. Ms. Paddack was elected as the State Senator for District 13 in Oklahoma in 2004 and has served in that capacity since that date. She earned a master of education degree in secondary education from ECU after obtaining her bachelor of science in education from the University of Colorado. Also pictured are ECU President John R. Hargrave and Elizabeth Vezina, president of the ECU Alumni Association.

GALLUP PAYTON HONORED AS ECU DISTINGUISHED ALUMNA

East Central University honored Becky Gallup Payton (center) as a 2014 Distinguished Alumna at the ECU Foundation’s Evening of Honors and Recognition in May. Ms. Gallup Payton is regional vice president of human resources for Mercy Health Systems in Oklahoma and a 1976 graduate of ECU. Also pictured are ECU President John R. DR. JAMES O. DANLEY HONORED POSTHUMOUSLY BY ECU

East Central University honored the late Dr. James O. Danley with the 2014 Distinguished Former Faculty Award at the ECU Foundation’s Evening of Honors and Recognition in May.
