    August Petersen, a former student leader at East Central University and a senior partner, officer, board member, investor and consultant to numerous Texas business ventures for more than 25 years, will be the speaker for ECU's annual Boswell Lecture on Monday [NOV. 5].

    He will discuss "Inspiring Success" at 7 p.m. in the Estep Multimedia Center on the first floor of the University Center. The lecture is open to the public.

    More than 20 student teams from colleges and universities across Oklahoma and Texas will be challenged to solve real-world problems Nov. 3 [SATURDAY] when East Central University hosts a regional competition of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest.

    Members of East Central University's chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha are encouraging everyone to wear pink, or something pink, to the ECU-Texas A&M-Commerce football game Saturday [OCT. 27] at Norris Field.

    Tickets to the game will be half price for anyone wearing pink.

    Kathy Johnson is going for a little walk this weekend - 60 miles, to be exact - and getting ready for it has become a life-changing experience.

    Johnson, East Central University's director of campus life and leadership, will walk in the Dallas-Fort Worth area's 2007 Breast Cancer 3-Day, beginning early Friday [OCT. 26] in Plano, Texas, at the "Dallas" television show's famous Southfork Ranch. Friday's walk: 21 miles.

    Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby, a 1972 graduate of East Central University, will be inducted into ECU's Hall of Governors Friday [OCT. 26] during a dedication ceremony at 2 p.m. in the University Center. The ceremony is open to the public.

    American concert pianist James Giles will perform in Ada Sunday [OCT. 28] as part of East Central University's 2007-08 Piano Series.

    The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Summers Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, with all proceeds going toward the “All-Steinway School” Fund.
