    Mickey Cowan, executive director of the East Central University Foundation Inc., has announced he will resign as the foundation's CEO because of health reasons. Cowan, a well-known figure in ECU and Ada circles, said he would return to teaching in the classroom where time constraints are less demanding.

    Laura Johnson of Holdenville is the first recipient of the Don and Jane Kellogg Mathematics and Science Teaching Scholarship at East Central University. Johnson is a freshman majoring in mathematics with a concentration in teacher certification.

    The senior exhibit of Angela Rae Mackey, an art major at East Central University, will be on exhibit at 6:30 p.m. Thursday [MAY 7, 2009] in the vicinity of Julianna Park in downtown Ada.

    The exhibit, titled "Voice," includes 20 of Mackey's watercolors on wooden panels and will be presented as a work of performance art on the street in view of the public.
