    ADA – When East Central University launches classes this fall for the 2013-14 academic year, there will be 28 new fulltime faculty members and four professional staff on board.

    Four faculty members began their duties last spring with the remaining 24 starting their instructional duties on Aug. 19.

    ADA – Tickets are now on sale for the 2013-14 fine arts season at East Central University.

    The lineup includes: Improvised Shakespeare (Sept. 26), Miller in Concert (Oct. 24), Chicago Tap Theatre (Jan. 24), the Brad Richter and Viktor Uzu Duo in concert with the Oklahoma City Community Orchestra (Feb. 22) and Aquila Theatre’s production of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (March 6).

    Frequently Asked Questions about the grand opening

    ADA – Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby and Harland C. Stonecipher, founder and former CEO and Chairman of the Board of Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc., will be the featured speakers as East Central University conducts the grand opening of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center on Thursday, Aug. 22.

    A significant share of Marquis Landrum’s personal sculpture collection has been bequeathed to East Central University, it was recently announced.

    The collection includes 27 three-dimensional works of non-western origin. Many of the more fragile artifacts will be displayed in cases in the gallery of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    ADA – Two Ada sisters, one an East Central University student and the other headed to the University of Oklahoma, were the recipients of scholarship awards from the Oklahoma Veterans Council and the Mid-America Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America in a ceremony held Monday.

    Tyler Mills, a junior from Stratford, is pictured after receiving the Billie Fathree Floyd Elementary Education Scholarship at East Central University for 2013. The scholarship was established in the fall of 2012 by family and friends of Floyd, a longtime educator, Oklahoma State senator and civic leader. Also pictured with Mills are Floyd (left) and Phyllis Danley, executive director of the ECU Foundation. The scholarship is strictly awarded to an ECU student who plans to pursue a physical education teaching position at the elementary school level.

    ADA – Four East Central University alumni and public school teachers received scholarship awards to the Katy Morris Shakespeare Symposium (KMSS), sponsored by the 34th Annual Oklahoma Shakespeare Festival (OSF).

    ADA – The state economy, Oklahoma citizenry and individual Oklahomans are benefiting significantly from the state’s public colleges and universities, including East Central University, according to a new report from the Battelle Technology Partnership Practice.
