    A new $500,000 grant has been awarded to East Central University to continue its Veterans Workforce Investment Program, this time with an emphasis on green energy jobs which require licenses and certifications.

    ECU received one of 17 grants totaling more than $7.5 million from the U.S. Department of Labor to provide approximately 3,000 veterans with job training to help them succeed in civilian careers. ECU hopes to serve 160 eligible veterans in 2009-10.

    This past weekend at the alumni reunion in Ardmore, the East Central University Alumni Association announced its Centennial Fundraising Campaign to raise $100,000 to benefit future students and the university.

    A practice Law School Admission Test will be offered Saturday [JULY 18] at East Central University. A good score on the LSAT is necessary to be admitted to law school.

    A trip to East Central University last April by recruiters looking for American teachers for a new school in China has evolved into a partnership agreement that will allow Chinese teachers to earn master's degrees from ECU.

    The agreement was signed by Dr. Duane C. Anderson, as interim president of ECU, and Thomas Wallis, chairman of the Macau Song Qing Ling Foundation International Education Center. Wallis was one of the recruiters.

    Students from the western half of Oklahoma gathered at East Central University for three weeks in June as part of a grant program that allows them to earn master of education degrees with a library media specialist option. The 22 students participated in graduate level courses, field trips and activities.

    The Ada Artists Association scholarship is awarded to East Central University art student Marumi Abe (left) of Saitama, Japan. Dr. Brad Jessop, chair of the Art Department, congratulates Abe during the annual art awards reception in the University Gallery. The award was based on Abe's portfolio performance in the 54th Annual Student Exhibition.

    The East Central University Alumni Association will host an Ardmore Area Alumni Reunion on July 18 [SATURDAY].

    The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Café Alley located at 126 A. Street Northeast in Ardmore.
