    Night-time and early morning astronomy viewings have been scheduled Thursday [APRIL 10] and April 30 by East Central University's Astronomy Club.

    Thursday's viewing of the moon and Saturn will be from 9 to 9:30 p.m. at the ECU Observatory adjacent to the Physical Plant Building northeast of the football stadium. The April 30 viewing of Jupiter and the moon will be early, from 5 to 5:30 a.m. at the observatory.

    Students from Moore High School and the Owasso 8th Grade Center won the top awards Saturday [MARCH 29] at the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair held annually at East Central University. Approximately 240 projects were vying for cash prizes and other awards.

    The $500 Best of Fair Award in the senior high school division went to Ethan Guinn, a senior at Moore High School, for his research project, "Video Games: The Next Generation's Addiction."

    The first exchange students to come to East Central University from Ukraine will arrive April 7 for a month-long stay under ECU's new Study Abroad exchange program with sister universities in Kiev and Moscow.

    An internationally renowned Native American artist, a noted historical performer, an award-winning Choctaw musician and the 2008 Dynamic Women of the Chickasaw Nation will visit East Central University Monday through Thursday [APRIL 7-10] for the annual campus series "On Oklahoma Ground: A Celebration of Native American History."

    College students planning to transfer to East Central University can attend Transfer Enrollment Day April 9 [WEDNESDAY] to get a head start on their summer or fall classes.

    To attend Transfer Enrollment Day, students must pre-register and submit an application for admission to ECU. Both forms are available online at www.ecok.edu by clicking on Prospective Tigers and then the link to Transfer Enrollment Day.

    The 54th Annual Faculty Exhibition is underway in the University Gallery through April 11 at East Central University.

    It will be the final faculty show in the current gallery at the east entrance of the Education Building, since the Art Department will move to the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center when it is completed.

    Award-winning authors with ties to Oklahoma, along with regional, published and emerging authors/writers, will read from their works Thursday through Saturday [APRIL 3-5] at East Central University.

    Featured authors in ECU's third annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival will be Dayna Dunbar, Phil Heldrich and Diane Glancy. More than 50 authors and writers from Texas to Minnesota, Washington and Arizona will read from their novels, poetry, essays and other works. All sessions are free and open to the public.
