    Dr. Daniel McCool, professor and author, will deliver East Central University’s Rothbaum Lecture, entitled “The Most Fundamental Right Under Threat.”  on Monday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.

    The lecture is free and open to the public.

    The inauguration of Dr. Katricia Pierson as East Central University’s ninth president is set for Friday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre of ECU’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    The event is open to the public.

    Pierson was named ECU president on Feb. 19, 2017 and took over the duties on March 1.

    Welcome and introductions will be made by Dr. Adrianna Lancaster, ECU acting provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.

    Elsa Moseley is excited about the opportunity to correspond with Russian high school teachers and students without leaving the United States.

    The East Central University senior from Sulphur has received a Virtual Student Federal Service internship with the U.S. Department of State. Through this internship, Moseley will correspond for a year with Russian high school teachers to design and implement teaching objectives for Russian high school students in the “Russia Access” program – an extracurricular program to teach English to talented youth from low-income families.

    East Central University student Bipin Shiwakoti, of Nepal, was selected as one of only six winners worldwide of the #WaterWomen Photo Contest, conducted by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI).

    Shiwakoti’s photo featured ECU Professor Dr. Christine Pappas and graduate student Sarita KC, both volunteers of Blue Thumb, as they monitored Little Sandy Creek in Ada for water quality, management and conservation.

    ECU SCREENS open its fourth season with “Angels in America: Millennium Approaches,” starring Andrew Garfield, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.

    Open to the public, the screening is $10 for members of the community. ECU SCREENS will be sponsoring free admission for students.

    Anna Wood aspires to go to law school once she graduates from East Central University in May.

    But first, Wood will learn the ins and outs of law on the ultimate stage. She will serve as intern for U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe in Washington D.C. Wood is the second recipient of the Dr. John J. Ulrich Fellowship.

    By receiving the fellowship award, Wood will spend the spring semester in D.C. as intern as well as earning 15 hours of college credit.

    Morgan Edwards values the Business Certificate in Promotions Management that she achieved at East Central University.

    Along with earning her bachelor’s degree in business administration-marketing last spring, Edwards simultaneously earned the certificate which has helped in her current position as the marketing and communications specialist for the Oka’ Institute on ECU’s campus.
