    ADA – Americana and Indie sounds will fill East Central University’s Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center, Wednesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. as Colorado-based band Songs of the Fall along with The Baptist Generals from Denton Texas will take the stage.
    Part of ECU’s Fine Arts Season, Songs of the Fall features five-time Grammy nominee Cia Cherryholmes on banjo and vocals and Stetson Adkisson on guitar and vocals. They have been described as a meeting of celtic, delta blues and bluegrass and referred to as the American version of the Swell Season.

    East Central University’s African-Caribbean Student Association is holding its annual “Fusion Night” celebration on Thursday, April 13, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Stanley Wagner Ballroom of the Memorial Student Union Complex. The program includes cultural music and dance performances, a fashion show and an African and Caribbean food buffet. Tickets are $10 for individuals and $15 for couples.     Dr. Dwight L. Myers, professor and co-chair of East Central University’s Chemistry Department, received statewide recognition for his undergraduate STEM research work with students during the 62nd Annual Oklahoma Pentasectional Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) on March 25 at Cameron University in Lawton.

    Myers, concerned about shaping the minds of undergraduate research students, was awarded the 2017 Oklahoma Chemist Award. He describes research at ECU as rewarding and an asset to undergraduate students.

    Ninety middle school students from across the state experienced fun and absorbed STEM principles during the 2017 NASA Challenge Showcase on March 29 at East Central University.

    Through a partnership between NASA and the Oklahoma State Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) program, middle school students participated in activities such as launching pencil rockets and learning robotic activities as well as making video presentations about space suit designs.

    Dr. Nathan Mellor, CEO of C3 Brands (Mosaic Personnel and Strata Leadership) and president of Strata Leadership, LLC in Oklahoma City, will deliver East Central University’s 27th Annual Parker Ethics Lecture on Tuesday, April 4, at 2 p.m. in ECU Foundation Hall of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.
