    ADA – A Red Tail dog tag souvenir will be distributed to all who attend East Central University’s Sixth Annual Louise Young Diversity Lecture on Tuesday, March 11, at 7 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    Col. Charles McGee, one of the first African American aviators in the U.S. Armed Forces, will share his story at the lecture. The souvenir is free and the event is open to the public.

    ADA – East Central University officially retired fallen teammate Chris Lane’s No. 7 baseball jersey at ECU’s Tiger Field on Wednesday, March 05, 2014. The ceremony was followed by a baseball scrimmage between ECU and Redlands Community College, where Lane played prior to coming to ECU.     ADA – The importance and value of obtaining a college degree hasn’t slid by East Central University senior Talon Starkey.

    But at one time it almost did.

    Starkey is on track to graduate this May. But the long road has been anything but smooth for the political science major. Taking the blame for practically all of his transgressions, Starkey is a rags-to-riches story in an educational sense.

    He recently delivered his story to state legislators and higher education leaders during Higher Education Day in Oklahoma City.

    ADA – East Central University will be well represented as ‘Momentum’, a semi-annual art exhibition sponsored by the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, will be held on March 7-10 at the Oklahoma City Farmers Public Market.

    ‘Momentum’ exhibits Oklahoma artists, ages 30 and under, in a venue created specifically for them, helping them gain experience and meet new audiences.

    ADA – Col. Charles McGee, one of the first African American aviators in the U.S. Armed Forces, will deliver East Central University’s Sixth Annual Louise Young Diversity Lecture on Tuesday, March 11, at 7 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre of ECU’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    The lecture is free and open to the public. A book signing will follow the lecture.

    BUY TICKETS

    ADA - One of the most revered novels of the 20th century, Fahrenheit 451, will be brought to life by the Aquila Theatre Company on the Ataloa Stage, at East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center on March 6, 2014.

    Tickets are $18 and may be purchased online at tickets.ecok.edu or at the box office the night of the show.

    ADA – East Central University’s Department of Music will present the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble Concert on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ataloa Theatre inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    Dr. Allen Correll is the conductor for the concert, which is free and open to the public and Dr. Ben Finley will serve as assistant conductor.

    ADA – East Central University alumnus Carlos E. Johnson has been named the new board chair for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), it was recently announced in Nashville, Tenn.

    Johnson is a 1964 ECU graduate and has served on the ECU Foundation’s Board of Trustees for a number of years.  He also taught at the University of Oklahoma and at Oklahoma State University, where he received his master’s and doctorate degrees.

    He held the dean’s position in the ECU School of Business from 1970-73.
