    The Texoma Health Foundation has approved a three-year, $150,000 grant proposal from East Central University in Ada, Okla., to fund a full-time faculty position for ECU's nursing program in Durant.

    The purpose of the THF grant is to increase the number of nursing students graduating each year from the ECU @ Southeastern Nursing Program, which was established on the Southeastern Oklahoma State University campus in 2001.

    Aleisha Brewer, a senior political science major from Wister, will represent East Central University at the four-day Nigh Leadership Academy that begins April 3.

    Dr. Mark Hollingsworth and Dr. Starla Hibler, music faculty members at East Central University, will present a concert of music for clarinet and piano at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26 [THURSDAY] in the Dorothy Summers Theatre. Admission is free.

    Performance selections include "Theme and Variations" by Jean Francaix, "Rumanian Whirling Dance" by James Sclater, "Time Pieces" by Robert Muczynski and "Variations on a Russian Romance" by Ernesto Cavallini.

    University of Oklahoma public radio station KGOU is planning to build a primary station in Ada, with the aid of a federal grant program and members of the community. KGOU General Manager Karen Holp and other station staff members will be at a public meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday [FEB. 24] at East Central University to share information about the proposed station. The meeting will be held in the Regents Room in the Memorial Student Union.

    The tour in May of two East Slavic countries and their three major cities still can accept participants, said Dr. Mara Sukholutskaya, professor of English and languages at East Central University.

    She will lead the tour to Kiev, Ukraine, and Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, from May 13-31.
