Come catch a glimpse of American history with World War II Marine Veteran and 92-year-old R.V. Burgin at the Seventh Annual Louise Young Diversity Lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at the Ataloa Theatre in East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center. ECU SCREENS will present an “imaginative adaptation” (Guardian) of “Treasure Island” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.
This stage adaptation brings to life Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic coming-of-age tale of murder, money, and mutiny on the high seas.

You could refer to the Annie Moses Band as bluegrass, jazz, classical, gospel or country and still be correct.
The band, which has logged 1,200-plus hours on PBS, played at Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry, will take the Ataloa Stage at East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 27 as part of the 2014-2015 Fine Arts Season.
Tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at tickets.ecok.edu or at the box office the night of the show. ECU students are free. Non-ECU students may purchase tickets for $10.

The little-known and intense confrontation between the American Marines and Japanese on the island of Peleliu in World War II will be shared by one who experienced and endured it firsthand.
R.V. (Romus Valton) Burgin will speak at the Seventh Annual Louise Young Diversity Lecture at 7 p.m., March 10, in the Ataloa Theatre of East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
The lecture is free and open to the public.

The East Central University Department of Music will present the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble Midwinter Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Ataloa Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
The symphonic band will be under the direction of Dr. Ben Finley, while the wind ensemble will be directed by Dr. Allen Correll.
The concert is free and open to the public.

True-life war stories about R V Burgin were shared in the blockbuster Emmy-Award winning HBO Series “The Pacific.” Now Burgin will personally share his stories at the Seventh Annual Louise Young Diversity Lecture at 7 p.m., March 10, at East Central University’s Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
