Ed Hobbs, the Horne & Company professor in accounting at East Central University, makes sure his students can gain real-world experience before they graduate – and in a way that helps the community.
Hobbs’ advanced students participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and provide free tax assistance to individuals with basic tax returns. They are providing that service again this year.

“A Conversation with Justice Rudolph Hargrave,” the newly retired justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, will be featured in the 2011 Lou Watkins Endowed Lectureship Tuesday [JAN. 25] at East Central University.

Five healthcare courses will begin March 7 through East Central University’s Continuing Professional Education Program.
The classroom courses are Medical Billing and Coding, EKG Technician Certification Program, Pharmacy Technician, Dental Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician.

Sixty pianists of all ages and abilities from the Ada area will present a unique concert Jan. 23 at East Central University, with as many as 16 pianists performing at the same time on eight pianos.

Free green energy job training will be offered in January to all eligible veterans in a Green Pre-Construction Trades Academy in Oklahoma City by the Veterans Workforce Investment Program. A mandatory orientation/employment training class will be held either Wednesday [JAN. 15] or Jan. 6 in Oklahoma City.
