After two recent meetings focusing on agency grants and services and arts education issues, Oklahoma Arts Council staff are scheduled to return to Ada for a third meeting that will center on opportunities for artists in the region.

A "sneak peek" opening will be held for Dallas artist Ron Clark's current series, Impending Presence, from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday [MEMORIAL DAY] in the Pogue Art Gallery in East Central University's Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
Clark, a native of Idabel, will be at the gallery. The formal opening reception for the artist will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 4 [FRIDAY]. The exhibit runs from Tuesday [JUNE 1] through July 28. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Tryouts for the ECU Dance Team, the group that performs at football and basketball games, will be held June 5 [SATURDAY] on the East Central University campus. Currently enrolled students or incoming freshmen may apply.

Child care organizations and parents across the globe joined together to celebrate Child Care Provider Appreciation Day earlier this month. In Ada, Project Invest, a program of East Central University's Child Care Resource & Referral and Smart Start South Central, led the effort.

A fascination with East Asian history has led a new East Central University graduate to become the university's first recipient of a prestigious Fulbright grant.
Dianna Kriegh of Vanoss has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program which offers fellowships for study, research and teaching in other countries. She applied to teach English for a year in South Korea.

The Horace Mann Building at East Central University, usually a designated storm shelter for the Ada community, will not be available after today [THURSDAY, MAY 13]. It will be closed through the summer for several construction projects.
