    ADA – The East Central University Human Resources Club will host its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Monday, Nov. 25 at 5:30 p.m., at the Pontotoc County Agri-Plex and Convention Center in Ada. The dinner is free and open to everyone in the community. Volunteers are needed for serving and cleaning.     ADA – Teaching has been an eye-opening, yet gratifying experience for Chris Eckler in his young career.

    Just months after obtaining his bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a teacher certification from East Central University in May, Eckler has plunged headfirst into what he anticipates as a life-long profession and love.

    ADA – ‘Spotlight on France’ will be hosted by the East Central University Global Education Department on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. in the Stanley P. Wagner Ballroom in the Memorial Student Union.

    ADA – Just days after being viewed at the Napa Valley Film Festival, one of those documentary movies, Sewing Hope, will be shown on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at East Central University’s Ataloa Theatre inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    The screening is free and open to the public.

    Sewing Hope, narrated by Forest Whitaker, is the story of Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe, who runs a school in Gulu, Uganda for young women formerly abducted and used as sex slaves and child soldiers by the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army, Joseph Kony.

    ADA – Growing up near the Chickasaw National Park in Sulphur, only piqued the interest and love of science for East Central University junior Linzi Thompson.

    Thompson spent her summers working in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, gaining an appreciation for nature and the environment, as well as working with animals.

    Her zest has led to pursuing a career in the environmental health science field and recently achieving a prestigious national award.

    ADA – The Veterans Upward Bound Program, at East Central University, is hosting a Veterans and Military Resource Roundup on Monday, Nov. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center on the ECU campus.

    The roundup features an informational speed sharing and networking event with service providers in the morning and an afternoon outreach session for veterans, military service members and their families.
