East Central University’s Harland C. Stonecipher School of Business will conduct its 2015 Scholarship and Awards Banquet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in the ECU Foundation Hall of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center. Cost for the banquet, which includes a meal and attendance at the awards ceremony, is $15 per person. The reservation deadline is Wednesday, April 15. Terri Talley, a survivor of the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, will speak at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at East Central University’s Estep Multimedia Center inside the Bill S. Cole University Center.
Talley’s speech is part of the 20th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing in which ECU’s Office of Campus Involvement, along with the other Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO) institutions of higher education are actively participating in activities of service, honor and kindness.

East Central University will screen the heartbreaking true story “Behind the Beautiful Forevers” at 4 p.m. Monday, April 13, in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.
Pulitzer Prize-winner Katherine Boo spent three years in India recording the lives of its residents. From her uncompromising book, winner of the National Book Award for Non-Fiction in 2012, comes this “magnificent” (Independent) and “compelling” (Daily Telegraph) play.

East Central University has become one of only two institutions of higher learning in the country to receive dual accreditation under the recent affiliation agreement between the Council for Accreditation and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and the Council of Rehabilitation Education (CORE).
College students now have the opportunity to achieve national certification through ECU’s Clinical Rehabilitation and Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program (M.S. degree).

East Central University faculty and Ada area favorites will take the Dorothy Summers Theatre Stage for an Evening of Jazz and Pop Standards Concert at 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 6.
The event, free and open to the public, will feature standards from jazz and popular repertoire, including music of legendary artists such as Janis Joplin, Elton John, Barbra Streisand and many others.

After a several-week delay, East Central University’s First Foreign Film Festival will wrap Wednesday, March 25, with the screening of “Three Idiots” at 4 p.m. in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center in the Bill S. Cole University Center.
“Three Idiots” is a wildly popular musical comedy, focusing on miserable engineering students and best friends Rancho, Farhan and Raju. While attending one of India’s premier colleges, the three “idiots” struggle to beat their school’s draconian system, which, in their eyes, unfairly values grades over creativity.

The 10th Annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival, featuring Darrell Bourque, Heid E. Erdrich, Steven Schroeder and Mary Kay Zuravleff, in addition to more than 50 author presentations from Oklahoma and beyond, is April 2-4, 2015, on the campus of East Central University in Ada, Okla.
