    A public hearing on Feb. 19 [TUESDAY] will offer an opportunity to discuss the strengths of and any concerns about East Central University's Teacher Education Program. Recommendations also can be made for changes to the program.

    The hearing will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Room 7 in the lower level of ECU's Education Building.

    The moon will pass through the darkest part of the earth's shadow, called the umbra, next Wednesday [FEB. 20] for a total lunar eclipse.

    The East Central University Observatory will be open to the public from 8:30-9:30 p.m. for those wishing to see the eclipse through a telescope, weather permitting.

    High school students from 82 schools are expected to compete Tuesday morning [FEB. 12] in the 92nd annual Interscholastic Meet at East Central University.

    An estimated 1,500 students will choose from 36 tests ranging from accounting to world history during the oldest and largest interscholastic meet in Oklahoma.

    French vocal music from the opera house to the coffee house will be the theme of an East Central University faculty concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday [FEB. 7] at the Ada Arts and Heritage Center. There is no admission charge.

    The Dean Peterson Legal Studies Scholarship Fund is being established through the East Central University Foundation Inc. to honor Peterson's commitment to ECU's Legal Studies Program.

    Dr. Dean Peterson is the retired director of ECU's program, the only such program in the state accredited by the American Bar Association.

    Students with exceptional academic work during the fall semester at East Central University have been listed on the President's and Dean's Honor Rolls.

    Both honor rolls require students to complete at least 12 semester hours during the semester. The President's Honor Roll is reserved for students with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, or straight A's. To be eligible for the Dean's Honor Roll, students must have a 3.33 grade point average with no grade lower than a C.

    Internationally known French pianist Hugues Leclere will perform works by Scarlatti, Bellini and Chopin in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday [JAN. 27] in East Central University's Dorothy Summers Theatre.
