    SHOWTIME, East Central University's musical theater ensemble, will present two performances Tuesday [OCT. 27] of a musical scenes adaptation of "The Wiz" based on the popular 1970s movie.

    Campus organizations have nominated 28 students as candidates for East Central University's Homecoming king and queen. ECU students will vote for the finalists on Wednesday [OCT. 28] and the king and queen will be announced during a coronation ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 31 [SATURDAY] before the Homecoming football game begins at 6 p.m.

    All the candidates will ride in the Homecoming parade at noon Oct. 31 [SATURDAY].

    A full week of activities will celebrate East Central University's Centennial Homecoming from Monday through Saturday [OCT. 26-31]. Events will be centered around the Homecoming theme "Celebrating 100 Years: Once a Tiger Always a Tiger."

    Homecoming t-shirts will be on sale from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday in the University Center. The long-sleeve shirts are black and feature the Centennial Homecoming logo.

    Approximately 1,300 high school students from across the state will compete in the Little Dixie Music Contest either Oct. 27 [TUESDAY] or Oct. 29 [THURSDAY] at East Central University.

    Students are coming from Altus in southwest Oklahoma to Oologah in the northeast, said Dr. Kelley Alig, director of the contest which has been held at ECU for more than 25 years.

    Fantasy and reality combine in a fast-moving play that will inaugurate the Chalmers Herman Theatre Thursday through Sunday [OCT. 22-25] in the new Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at East Central University.

    Fentem Hall is at the Northern gateway of East Central University’s campus and as the home of Continuing Education and Community Services and ECU’s Child Development Center, it attracts a lot of people.

    The Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival, an ensemble that features Russian Cossack dancers and balalaika musicians, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 [Wednesday] in the Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at East Central University.

    The Homecoming Golf Tournament will kick off the East Central University Alumni Association's Centennial Homecoming activities on Oct. 30 [FRIDAY].

    The tournament will begin with a lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Oak Hills Golf & Country Club in Ada. Golfers will tee off at 1 p.m.

    The entry fee is $100 per player for a four-person scramble.
