    ADA – The East Central University Gay-Straight Alliance will host a special presentation by Mary Bishop and Sharon Baldwin in recognition of National Coming Out Day, Thursday, October 10 at 7 p.m. in the Estep Multimedia Room, located in the Bill S. Cole University Center, on the ECU campus.

    ADA – Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, it may now be easier for East Central University students, who have young children, to complete their degrees.

    The $88,300 grant to ECU, through the Tiny Tiger Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Project, is designed to benefit campus-based child care services for low-income students. There are 58 institutions of higher learning from across the country that will benefit from the $9.2 million grant.

    ADA – East Central University President Emeritus Dr. Stanley P. Wagner has established a $50,000 endowment, the “Stanley P. and Diana M. Wagner University Chorale Endowment”, to help defray costs as ECU’s University Chorale is scheduled to make a trip to Washington D.C. in December.

    ADA – Pushing for the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, Oklahoma State Senator Susan Paddack and Oklahoma House of Representative Todd Thomsen, along with East Central University have accelerated the process.

    ADA – Select Native American baskets and totem poles from the Northwestern United States, as part of the Sally and Marshall Gettys Collection, will be on display in East Central University’s Pogue Art Gallery in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center from Oct. 24-Nov.26.

    The exhibit, sponsored by the Office of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the Native American Studies Program, can be viewed each weekday during that span from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    ADA – Social media expert Maira Moraes Ollila will deliver the 2013-2014 Boswell Lecture, Social Media in the Business World, on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. in Foundation Hall at East Central University’s Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.

    According to Boswell Endowed Professor of Business Administration Dr. Pat Fountain, Ollila has distinguished herself in her field.

    ADA – Get ready to enjoy an evening of off-the-cuff comedy using the language and themes of William Shakespeare when The Improvised Shakespeare Company takes the Ataloa stage in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at East Central University.

    ADA – The East Central University Alumni Association has announced activities for its 2013 Homecoming, themed ‘Roary Loves the 90’s, Celebrating our 1993 Breakthrough Championship’, scheduled for Oct. 4-5.
    The annual homecoming golf tournament is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at the Oak Hills Golf and Country Club in Ada. The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $125 per golfer and includes a burger lunch, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $10 for those not participating in the golf tournament, but wanting to eat lunch.
