The Oklahoma Criminal Justice Association (OCJA) will hold its annual conference on April 9 [FRIDAY] in the Stanley Wagoner Ballroom in the Memorial Student Union at East Central University in Ada. This year's theme will be "New Horizons: A Changing World."
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Steve Turner, ECU vice president for administration and finance. He is a former criminal justice coordinator and department chair at ECU.

Several entertaining sessions and informative speakers are planned for the 2010 Dynamic Women of the Chickasaw Nation Conference and Forum, scheduled for Thursday, April 8, at East Central University in Ada. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
This year's theme is "The Balanced Life" with related sessions to explore solutions for better health, greater spirituality, creativity and balanced leadership. Scheduled sessions include:

Dr. Joshua Lyle Weiner, professor and head of the Marketing Department at Oklahoma State University, will present "Ethics, Marketing, Choice and the Attack on Individual Freedom" at the 20th annual Parker Ethics Lecture March 23 [TUESDAY] at East Central University in Ada.
Weiner will speak at 4:30 p.m. in the Estep Multimedia Center in the Bill S. Cole University Center. The public is invited and there is no charge for admission.

Dr. Bill S. Cole, president emeritus of East Central University, died Wednesday in Ada [MARCH 10] after a battle with cancer.

Applications will be accepted until March 12 [FRIDAY] for faculty members to teach at the Oklahoma Victim Assistance Academy that will be held June 6-11 at East Central University in Ada.
The OVAA is a 40-hour, academic-based, foundation-level course of instruction in victim service issues designed for victim service providers, advocates, law enforcement, allied professionals and others who work with crime victims.

Barbara Tiry of Skiatook, a freshman majoring in speech education at East Central University, outshone all other Oklahoma Poetry Interpreters at the recent Kansas Wesleyan University Border Wars speech and debate tournament. Her poetry presented a humorous look at love.
