    ADA – East Central University’s Department of Music received confirmation of Music Program Accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), it was recently announced.

    The accreditation is for 10 years and places all music programs in all degree plans in good standing with the accrediting agency.

    Kaylin Cullum
    ADA – Kaylin Cullum’s passion for political science and law has led to several awards for the East Central University senior from Wetumka.
     
    First, Cullum was accepted as only one of 10 students nationally for the University of California’s Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship. She is currently in the seven-week residential fellowship which prepares students for graduate school and law school.

    ADA – East Central University has a new tool in tracking the progress and success of its recent graduates.
     
    For the first time ECU, along with 43 other colleges and universities in 22 states, have a reliable and nationally-standardized method for finding out what their students are doing after graduation.
     
    “ECU has collaborated with CSO Research to develop an online survey to tap student behaviors in seeking their first full-time job and to assess their attitudes toward the workplace,” said ECU Career Center Director Peggy Saunkeah.

    ADA – Student members of East Central University’s Alpha Chi Honor Society Chapter excelled with a collaborative research project at the national convention this spring in St. Louis, Mo.

    The Alpha Chi National Chapter offered a $5,000 prize for a team that addressed “The Future of Water.” ECU’s team placed second with a project entitled “The Worth of Water: Groundwater, a Diminishing Resource.”

    Alpha Chi Initiation Spring 2014

    ADA – East Central University’s Alpha Chi Chapter inducted 90 new members in a ceremony attended by 300 in the Stanley P. Wagner Ballroom this spring.

    Alpha Chi is comprised of the top 10 percent of juniors and seniors at ECU and is the only university-wide honor society.
